Chapter 70
It was a black Maybach. Even though it was 30 feet away, Natalie could still recognize the man sitting still in the backseat.
It was Jason.
At that moment, Natalie almost exploded with hatred. Jason had actually laid a hand on a student who had yet to graduate from college.
In the car, Jason looked through the windshield and met Natalie’s eyes.
She had noticed him.
Not too long ago, Chandler had told Jason that Natalie had found the witness of the car accident back then and that she was heading for Hallsbrook. Jason immediately went after her.
He had to get rid of all evidence that could be used against him. It wasn’t that he was afraid of death, but he still wanted to spend his whole life with Natalie. He had to stay alive to be by her side, so he couldn’t let anything happen to him.
Perhaps for now, Natalie couldn’t understand the reason behind his actions. But since she loved him to bits, as long as he did his best and made her feel his sincerity, she would definitely forgive everything he did now.
Jason ordered, “Start the car.”
The Maybach made a U–turn and silently disappeared from her sight.
.At the same time, the ambulance arrived.
Natalie didn’t get to confront Jason. Besides, his presence at the site of the accident alone wasn’t enough to prove anything. Without mulling it over, she got into the ambulance to head for the hospital.
Kevin suffered a serious injury. Natalie kept pacing outside the operating room for three hours, but the red light remained lit.
It had been a while since the last time she had felt this anxious. She paced back and forth in front of the doors, guilt gradually consuming her. If not because of her, Kevin wouldn’t have been dragged into this mess.
All in all, Jason was the perpetrator of the accident.
She had been married to such a despicable person for three years. At the thought of that, Natalie suddenly felt a chill traveling through her body.
After nine hours of rescue, Kevin, fortunately, survived.
Through the glass, Natalie stared at the unconscious Kevin, who was breathing and alive in the intensive care unit. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
The next instant, a thought surfaced in her mind.
She had only been relieved for a moment when she felt a surge of anxiety again, her face solemn as she frowned slightly.
After pondering for a while, Natalie took out her phone and dialed an unknown phone number.
The person on the other end answered the call almost immediately and said, “Ms. Sutton.”
Natalie took a deep breath and went straight to the point. “Mr. Mattel, I’d like to ask you for a favor.”
As soon as she said that, an anxious voice rang out from the other end, “Where are you?”
Natalie froze for a second, then replied honestly, “I’m at Haville Hospital.”
“Okay.”
With that, the call disconnected.

Natalie was slightly confused. Rowan didn’t ask her what kind of help she needed and merely asked her where she was. She wondered what his final reply meant.
Although she was still doubtful of him, he was the most suitable person she could think of in such a
period.
She had only thought of giving it a shot. If he turned her down, she would think of another solution. However, she hadn’t expected that he would agree right away without asking further.
Leaning against the wall, Natalie guarded in front of the intensive care unit, for she feared that something might happen again.
It had only been half an hour, but Natalie heard footsteps approaching. She looked over subconsciously and met his eyes.
She wondered if Rowan was in Hallsbrook, too. If not, how did he get here in such a short time?
Rowan walked up to her, and before Natalie could organize her thoughts and phrase her words, he carried her in his arms.
Natalie looked uneasy, her voice laced with displeasure. “Mr. Mattel, please put me down.”
Rowan didn’t relent. His brows settled into a deep frown, and his face was livid. “You can still talk to me this way.”
