Chapter 4

I fired back, “Did your mother teach you about shame? You moved into someone else’s home, completely destroyed their space, and you have the nerve to act offended?”

I immediately called Logan: “Get your ass over to our new place RIGHT NOW!”

Logan instantly realized what happened.

“What’s the big deal about letting Autumn stay at our place for a while? Why are you so upset?”

“This is because you’re petty and wouldn’t let me drive her to work. Her ankle isn’t healed, and I was worried about her walking so

far.”

“Our place is closer to her office, and we’re not using it anyway-it was just sitting empty.”

Autumn smirked triumphantly. “Even if you call Logan over, what good will it do? He approved everything I’ve done.”

“Besides, you shouldn’t be so upset. After all, who says you’ll be the lady of this house in the end?”

I hung up the phone and couldn’t help but remark sarcastically:

“Why don’t you just marry Logan yourself then? You’ve known him since childhood-technically you had dibs. So why didn’t he choose you all these years?”

From my observation, Logan hadn’t chosen Autumn because he looked down on her family’s financial situation.

Autumn never even went to college. Her parents are unemployed and survive on government assistance.

Meanwhile, I’m the daughter of a New York business mogul, a Harvard graduate, with countless properties in my family’s portfolio.”

Any man would know which choice made more sense.

My words hit a nerve. Autumn’s expression suddenly turned vicious.

“Logan just hasn’t admitted his true feelings yet. You’ll see-this wedding of yours is never going to happen!”

Just then, the front door opened. Autumn immediately let out an agonizing scream and threw herself on the floor.

“I’m sorry, Rayna! I shouldn’t have touched your new home! Please stop hitting me-you’re going to kill me!”

Logan rushed in and shielded Autumn. “Rayna, how could you hit her?”

“First, I didn’t touch her. Second, even if I had, wouldn’t she deserve it?”

Logan looked around the apartment. “Autumn, why did you change everything like this?”

“But Logan, you said I could make myself comfortable. I really didn’t like your decorations, so I just added some personal touches.”

“I spent so much money on these things! Don’t they look nice? I was just trying to help.”

Hearing this, Logan frowned deeply towards me: “Rayna, Autumn shouldn’t have changed the apartment without permission, but you shouldn’t have gotten physical with her.”

“Apologize to her now, and I’ll let this go.”

I laughed bitterly.

Chapter 4

“Are you blind, Logan? Can’t you see she’s faking? We’re supposed to get our marriage license tomorrow, but maybe you should marry her instead!”

With that, I turned to leave, but Logan grabbed my arm.

“Rayna, don’t be like this. Autumn’s young and immature-don’t take it personally.”

“I’ll make her restore everything right now and move out immediately!”

“I don’t want this apartment anymore-it’s contaminated!” I pointed at the bedroom. “She slept in our marriage bed. It makes me sick!”

“Fine, fine! We’ll sell this place and buy a new one!”

Autumn panicked. “Logan, why are you babying her? She hit me first!”

“That’s enough, Autumn. I never should have let you stay here!”

Autumn couldn’t maintain her composure. She covered her face and ran away crying.

Logan looked worried. “It’s late-Autumn shouldn’t be alone. Let’s just meet directly at the marriage registry office tomorrow.”

I was crying from anger, wanting to break up with Logan right then, but frustratingly, I still couldn’t let go.

The next day, I arrived at the registry office on time.

I waited and waited, but Logan never showed.

I called him repeatedly. When he finally answered:

“Autumn sneezed twice this morning. I was worried, so I took her to the hospital. Getting the marriage license isn’t urgent-we can reschedule.”

Before I could respond, he just hung up.

This time, I was absolutely livid!

Reschedule my ass! I’m done with this bullshit!

I immediately texted him “It’s over” and blocked him on everything.

Since I was already at the registry, I decided not to waste the trip and called Nate.

“Want to get married? If yes, get your butt over here now!”

Ten minutes later, Nate arrived in his Ferrari.

I dragged him into the registry office. “Last chance to back out. Once we get that marriage certificate, it’ll be too late for second thoughts.”

Nate grinned. “Zero regrets, guaranteed!”

After getting our marriage certificate, I received a message from Autumn:

[Told you your wedding would never happen.]

I took a photo of Nate and me with our marriage certificate and sent it to her.

[Thanks for the push. I’m Mrs. Sullivan now.]
