Chapter 13
One year later, Jackson took the college entrance exam again.
Unlike the previous year, his score this time was very ordinary, only good enough for a lower-tier university.
Unlike the grand celebration dinner a year ago, this time he chose to quietly leave for some small city out west.
Before leaving, he tried to stop me downstairs, but just as he said hello, my parents rushed down from upstairs and made me come
home.
Not long after, seeing Mom’s triumphant expression when she came through the door, I quickly asked her to tell me what had
happened.
Mom deliberately cleared her throat:
“When I saw him cornering you from upstairs, every hair on my body stood up. I immediately rushed down with your dad.”
“Hilarious! He tried to put on this deeply emotional face, saying he wouldn’t waste your time anymore. As if he could-who pays him any attention now?”
“If your dad hadn’t held me back, I would have slapped him twice.”
“Last year his parents wanted him to go to Chicago, but he insisted on going to Boston. Then he took a gap year, but didn’t even study
hard. His dad really must have done something terrible in his past life to deserve a son like him.”
“Fortunately, I was smart enough to tell his parents last year. I said, the relationship between Jackson and Ava is definitely over!”
My dad suddenly chuckled.
“Your mom said, ‘Young people dating-they stay together if it works, they break up if it doesn’t. No big deal.””
“In my opinion, that Morgan girl seemed deeply devoted to Jackson. Even after all that drama, she was still waiting for him outside our community recently.”
“Actually, they might make good companions in Chicago!”
Later, my college boyfriend and I both got into graduate school at our university.
After graduation, we signed with the same major corporation.
Our combined income approached a million dollars in the first year.
In the second year, my boyfriend and I got married, and both sets of parents moved near us, each renting a small apartment.
Some help us walk the dog, others provide meals to share.
Jackson had become someone I never thought about unless specifically mentioned.
What I didn’t expect was that after college graduation, Morgan actually followed him to that western city.
Classmates privately remarked:
“We thought they were just fooling around, turns out it was true love.”

But my mom secretly told me
“Jackson’s dad is beside himself with worry. That Morgan has driven away all females around Jackson and prashed him to attempt
suicide twick
This mom’s andirty still hasn’t improved, and now she’s got depression too. She takes handfuls of pills every day and looka complewly on of it”
Not long after, someone in our small classmates that group shared a screenshot of Morgan’s social media post.
Look, there’s no such thing as stealing someone’s man before there’s a ring on it. Whoever ends up with the wedding ring wins.
Besides, he likes me better!]
In the attached photo, one person was all smiles, the other looked smerly miserable
But no one bother to commented on it.
People occasionally chatted about work, socks, marriage, and children

My husband quickly tried to educate her
“You’re still young. Even when you grow up, you need to see if the boys treat yous well.
Our daughter waved her hand, interrupting her dad, questioning in her childish voice
“I’ll keep them if I’m happy, throw them away if I’m not ”
“Just like buying new shoes!”
I burst out laughing
That’s right, throw them away if you’re not happy.”
“This is called cutting your losses in time!”
