Chapter 8

“While you were off traveling with Eva…”

Ian stared at the dazzling diamond ring on my finger. For a moment, something in his eyes

cracked. It slowly collapsed like a fault line breaking apart.

In the corner, Sebastian’s gaze locked on me like a venomous snake-cold, sharp.

However, I didn’t care about their feelings. I turned and walked away without hesitation.

“Sienna, did you marry someone else? Was I not good enough? Why… Why would you give up on my brother and still not choose me? I’ve already apologized! Why can’t you forgive

me?”

I stared at Sebastian for a long time.

I remembered the first time we met. Sebastian had just been a college kid who would call

out my name constantly. Sebastian used to commute four hours a day just to come to our

house and cook for Ian and me because we were busy with work.

“Sienna, you’re too skinny. Let me make chicken noodle soup for you tonight, okay?”

Back then, I treated him like my brother. When did everything change? Was it when the way he looked at me became bold and unrestrained? Was it after I turned him down and he brought Eva home to get revenge on me? Was it… something else?

None of that mattered now. Nothing could last forever.

We all had our paths in life. I had been with the Blake brothers for five long years. We should have parted ways long ago.

However, it was clear that Ian did not understand that.

At 3:00 am, my phone would not stop buzzing. Ian was calling me again, this time from

another number.

“Sienna, I’m sorry. Come home. Your things aren’t here anymore, and the house feels empty. I can’t get used to it. I miss you so much. Why haven’t you come home yet?”

His voice was slurred from being drunk, and he repeated the same words again and again

like a broken record. However, all I felt was irony. It had been over a month since I moved

out, and only now did Ian realize I was gone.

Jasper, who was sleeping beside me, turned around, frowning at the noise. He was not exactly happy about being woken up, but his gaze clearly showed his puzzlement.

I held my phone up to his face and mouthed, “Ex-boyfriend.”

Jasper instantly understood. He took the phone, speaking calmly and clearly. “My wife needs to sleep. What’s so urgent that you’re calling her at 3:00 am?”

I shot him a thumbs-up. He was good.

On the other end, Ian lost it. Drunk and angry, he slurred into the phone, “Who the hell are you? Why are you calling her your wife? Why are you answering her phone?!”

“Sienna is my wife!”

I ended the call, not wanting to hear more of Ian’s nonsense.

Jasper rolled over and pinned me down, gazing at me with a gentle look. “Why is your ex still calling you? Explain to me.”

Raising my hands, I surrendered immediately and told him everything-every last detail of my past with Ian.

When I was done, Jasper did not mock me or get jealous. Instead, he pulled me into a tight embrace. “Silly girl, you must’ve been through hell in those five years. Don’t worry. I’ll contact the best piano teacher for you right away.”

Curled up in his arms, I looked up at him and whispered, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll lose myself in it and forget about managing the company?”

to learn from me how to run a company.”

Jasper was the perfect partner-for both marriage and business.

Our families were closely connected through business ties, and with our marriage, the

alliance only deepened.

He was gentle and respectful. He never brought up any past relationships, and even his first love had taken place way back in high school.

Day by day, I found myself relying on him more than I ever thought possible.

That evening, we attended a charity gala together and ran into Ian, Sebastian, and Eva again. This time, however, I was calm.

No greetings. No small talk.

I walked past them like they were strangers in the crowd.

Yet all night, I could feel someone’s gaze clinging to me. It was disgusting.

During the auction, Jasper raised his bid for a stunning ruby necklace, clearly intending to give it to me as a gift. However, someone kept bidding against him relentlessly, pushing the price higher and higher.

I looked up and met the guilty eyes of Ian and Sebastian.
