The bid had skyrocketed to five million dollars when that necklace was really only worth one million dollars.
I stopped Jasper just as he was about to raise his hand again.
Five million dollars. That was likely everything the Blake brothers had in liquid assets.
Jasper leaned in, his lips brushing against my ear as he said in a teasing voice, “What’s the matter? You can’t bear to see them lose this bidding war?”
I rolled my eyes. “That necklace is worth only one million dollars. Are you going to pay five times that price? Is it fun to watch your money go down the drain?”
His voice turned jealous. “It’s just because you don’t want your ex-boyfriend to keep
bidding.”
I was speechless. I had not expected the usually stern Jasper to get so easily jealous.
Still, I took the time to explain patiently, “He only has about five and a half million dollars of liquid assets. If you bid again and it goes past six, he won’t be able to follow. Then, you’ll be stuck paying six million dollars. Won’t that be a huge loss?”
Jasper blinked, then let out an amused laugh. He flicked my nose playfully. “Good thing my wife’s smart. Otherwise, I’d be spending extra money.”
I smacked his hand away, pretending to be annoyed.
Later, after the auction ended, I ran into Eva in the restroom. She was fuming, glaring at me like she could ignite me with sheer rage. Her voice trembled with resentment as she
hissed, “Sienna, you sure are something.”
I raised an eyebrow, curious.
She sneered, her voice rising with each word. “You left and became Ian’s precious, unattainable memory. What about me? I’m nothing but someone from the past now.”

Men always wanted what they could not have. They were never satisfied, always haunted by
the one who had left them.
Eva’s eyes shone with a twisted kind of madness as she added, “But I’ll make sure you rot in Ian’s memory. That way, he’ll never have room for anyone else except for me.”
Before I could even respond, she turned and stormed out. It did not take long for me to
understand what she meant.
As I made my way back to find Jasper, I passed a stairwell, and behind me came the sharp
crack of a slap. I turned just in time to hear a scream.
“Ms. Xenos, don’t hit me!”
Eva threw herself backward and tumbled down the stairs. She rolled several times before finally coming to a stop in a bloody heap at the bottom. She was clutching her stomach as a dark pool of blood began to spread beneath her.
“My baby! My baby!” she wailed.
Some people rushed over in a panic, forming a crowd in seconds.
Ian finally arrived—late, as always—and was pushing through the crowd. He immediately cradled Eva in his arms. Tears welled in her eyes as she clutched at his sleeve and said in a trembling voice, “Ian, I lost our baby… My stomach… It hurts so bad… It hurts… It was Sienna. She pushed me. I just wanted to talk, to explain that nothing ever happened between me and you, but she pushed me…”
Hatred gleamed in her tear-filled eyes. “Ian, promise me you won’t let her get away with
this.”
That was not the first time Eva had tried to frame me like this. It was a stupid trick, but it worked. Every time, Ian would believe her without question and demand that I apologize.
This time, however, she was in for a disappointment. Ian just took out his phone and called
the ambulance.

Even Sebastian only stared at her coolly, asking, “Why would Sienna push you?”
Eva flinched.

Caught off guard, she blurted out the first thing she could think of, “Because… Because she’s jealous of me! That’s right! She’s jealous!”
Ian questioned her, “Jealous of what?”
“Sienna is the heiress of the Xenos family, the future owner of one of the most powerful companies in the city. What exactly could she be jealous of?”
The Xenos family was leagues beyond Ian’s company, which had barely stabilized.
“But… But I have your love and your child! Sienna is jealous and hates me! She wants to kill our baby!”
In her panic to build a motive, Eva spilled everything about our entangled past—including
the relationships between the four of us-right in front of the dozens of auction guests..
Everyone instantly started to whisper among themselves.
“Wait… Isn’t she the mistress, then? She seduced her boyfriend’s brother and said it was a misunderstanding, but now, she’s pregnant with the brother’s baby?”
“Does she think she can get pregnant just by holding hands or something? How
ridiculous!”
“Classic bitch behavior…’
Eva’s face drained of all color as those murmurs turned into sharp, merciless judgment.
She covered her head and screamed, “It’s not true! I’m not a mistress! I never dated Sebastian. We were just putting on an act! I grew up with Ian, but Sienna snatched him away! She’s the homewrecker, not me! She’s the one!”
Eva sat in her blood, looking like a mad woman raving in front of everyone.
