Chapter 5
Roman demanded, kneeling beside the bed, his face twisted with panic.
“We promised to never part-are you angry with me? Tell me what I did wrong. I’ll fix everything, just please…”
Looking at the trail of hickeys disappearing beneath his collar, Hazel wanted to ask if he really didn’t know what he’d done wrong. But in the end, she simply made up an excuse.
“I was sorting through some jewelry yesterday and sold pieces I didn’t like. The rings must have gotten mixed in by accident.”
Despite how flimsy the explanation was, Roman believed it.
“Hazel, don’t ever do that again. You have no idea how terrified I was. We’re never going to be apart…”
He’s this scared just from seeing the wedding rings sold? Hazel wondered how will he react when he discovers we’re actually
divorced?
She lowered her head, hiding the contempt in her eyes.
Perhaps sensing her mood, Roman canceled all his appointments to stay home with her-personally cooked her meals and made soup, sent her fresh flowers every day, ordered countless pieces of fine jewelry, bought her a new mansion. He even arranged a
citywide fireworks show just for her…
The top trending hashtag became “Guess what surprise Roman has for his wife today?” Everyone envied their deep love and devotion.
But only Hazel knew that Naomi received identical gifts from Roman.
He had ultimately become the very person he once despised most…
The night before she planned to leave, Hazel got up for water and overheard Roman on the balcony taking a phone call.
“Mr. Winters, Miss Jensen swallowed an entire bottle of pills. She’s extremely agitated and refuses medical treatment. Please talk to
her now!”
Roman rubbed his temples in frustration. “Put her on.”
The next moment, a hysterical scream came through the phone.
“Roman Winters! I want you to divorce Hazel Bennett right this second, or I’ll refuse treatment and die right here!!”
Even through the screen, her unhinged obsession was palpable. But this time, Roman didn’t yield.
“Naomi, I’ve told you before-I will never divorce Hazel. Even if you threaten suicide, I won’t compromise on this. That’s my bottom
line.”
His final words carried unwavering determination.
Hazel’s lips curled in contempt. He’s already slept with Naomi, yet he’s still pretending to be devoted, desperately clinging to this broken marriage.
After a long silence, a soft sob came from the other end.
“Then will you at least come see me? Roman, having my stomach pumped is so painful. I just want to see you…”
After a long sigh, Roman conceded reluctantly.
“Tine. Be good and wait for me at the hospital.”
After hanging up, he pulled out a notepad and hastily scribbled a few lines.
[Hazel, emergency business trip for two days. Eat properly while I’m gone. When I return, I’ll take you to the beach.]
Then he grabbed his jacket and left without hesitation.
Only after the door closed did Hazel emerge from the bedroom and begin packing her bags.
Suddenly, moaning sounds came from the media room. She frowned and walked over, pushing open the door.
What she saw on the large screen made her freeze in place-a completely naked Naomi straddled Roman’s lap.
Her face flushed with desire: “Roman, I’ve missed you so much. Please, give it to me…”
With that, her hand slid slowly toward his groin.
Roman’s breath caught, his Adam’s apple bobbing as lust darkened his eyes.
“You asked for this. Don’t complain later, no matter how rough it gets.”
The next moment, he flipped her over, pinning her beneath him. Their ragged breathing and her moans intertwined. Roman gripped Naomi’s waist tightly, trailing kisses down her neck…
Hazel’s stomach revolted violently. Unable to control herself any longer, she bolted to the bathroom and threw up until she was completely spent.
She spent the night sitting numbly in the living room.
As dawn broke, her phone pinged with a message. Looking at the fifty million dollars now in her account, some of the weight finally
lifted from Hazel’s chest.
She called a delivery service to send the signed share transfer agreement to Dominic Lloyd’s company. Then she picked up her
suitcase and headed for the door.
But as she opened it, she came face to face with a familiar figure.
