Chapter 10
“Look out!”
Roman instinctively pulled Victoria aside. The bottle grazed her temple before shattering on the floor, sending glass fragments
everywhere.
Everyone at the event froze in shock.
Naomi glared venomously at the still-stunned Victoria.
“You slut!” she shrieked. “How dare you try to steal my man! I’ll kill you!”
She lunged forward, hands outstretched to strangle Victoria.
Roman quickly stepped between them, but in the struggle, Naomi clawed his face, drawing blood. Finally losing all patience, he
slapped her hard across the face.

“Naomi Jensen! When will this insanity end?!”

He hadn’t held back. Naomi clutched her cheek as she fell to the floor, her eyes immediately welling with tears.
“You hit me?” Her voice trembled. “Roman Winters, I’ve loved you so much, sacrificed everything for you, followed you around like a dog with no dignity for eight years, destroying myself and my reputation. Now you’re sneaking around with this whore and hitting
me for her? How could you do this to me?!”
Roman stared at her, his eyes filled with exhaustion and despair.

“I’ve told you countless times that I have a job to discuss today. If it weren’t for you, Hazel wouldn’t have divorced me or lost my CEO
position. Naomi Jensen, how have I wronged you? I’m begging you-leave me alone! I can’t take any more of this!”
By the end, his voice shook with emotion.
Meanwhile, Victoria Norwood, who’d nearly had her head split open for no reason, finally understood the situation.
Being in the same social circles, she was well aware of Naomi’s past antics. She had once admired Roman for remaining unmoved, devoted only to Hazel. Now she realized he had ultimately succumbed to temptation after all.
Victoria didn’t care about their romantic drama, but she wasn’t about to let this verbal abuse slide.
She called security to forcibly restrain Naomi. Then she delivered several stinging slaps to the woman’s face.
“Hazel may have let you get away with your bullshit because she’s too dignified to lower herself to your level. But I’m different. You dare insult me? I’ll smack that mouth right off your face! Naomi Jensen, you’re nothing but a cheap homewrecker. Stay in the gutter where you belong instead of strutting around in public!”
Naomi’s face swelled instantly, throbbing with pain. She struggled desperately against the restraints but to no avail. She bit her lip and looked toward Roman.
“Roman Winters, are you just going to stand there and watch her humiliate me like this?!”
Roman stared at this disheveled, manic woman, unable to comprehend how they’d reached this point.
Once, he’d had a beautiful, gentle wife and wealth that everyone envied.
But he hadn’t known how to cherish it. He’d indulged in his affair with Naomi.
Now, Roman could only say this was karma.
He gave a cold, bitter smile.
“She’s not wrong about anything. Naomi, aren’t you just a homewrecker?”
“I was stupid enough to be seduced by you time and again, betraying Hazel’s trust. But I’ve always loved Hazel in my heart-that never changed. If you come looking for me again, even if you die, it has nothing to do with me anymore.”
As his words landed, the crowd erupted into gossip.
“Wait, is he admitting to cheating? Didn’t he just make that public declaration of love to his wife a few days ago?”
“It was all fake, obviously. That old saying is so true-The grass is always greener on the other side. Hazel Bennett is gorgeous, yet he went for someone like Naomi Jensen? Disgusting.”
“Now he regrets it? Too late! Men like him don’t deserve true love!”
The crowd’s chatter continued as someone surreptitiously recorded the entire confrontation.
Naomi’s face turned deathly pale, as if she’d been plunged into an ice bath.
She belatedly realized something was different about Roman this time…
She forced a stiff smile. “Roman, I’ll stop causing trouble. Let’s go home, okay? I know I was wrong. I’ll apologize to her.”
She looked up at him, her tear-filled eyes pleading. But Roman didn’t even glance her way. He simply bowed in apology to Victoria
and walked toward the exit without hesitation.
Behind him, Naomi’s heart-wrenching cries and screams echoed.
“Roman, come back! I won’t make trouble anymore! Don’t leave me!”
Roman never looked back once.
