With that, I hung up. I didn’t want to listen to Jayvon’s bullshit anymore.
I had planned to wait until the engagement ceremony to get back at him, but now I figured it was better to cut it off with this jerk sooner. There was no point in dragging it out and getting even more annoyed.

I was about to put the phone down when a friend request from a stranger popped up. The name “Jaslene” in the note caught my eye.
She even added “I wanna apologize to you” so I wouldn’t reject her.
They must be together. Otherwise, her message wouldn’t have come so fast.
I held back my irritation and decided to see what she was up to, so I accepted her request right away.
Jaslene sounded sincere. “Bree, I heard everything. Don’t be mad at Jayvon. It’s all my fault. I caused the problem be-
tween you two.
“I shouldn’t have come back. Jayvon does care about me more and always wanted me back, but that’s because I’m his cousin. He hadn’t seen me in a long time, so he sent me the invitation to your engagement. There’s absolutely nothing going on between us!”
She went on and on, going out of her way to prove her “innocence.”
I sneered. She was trying to say that Jayvon loved her more and used the engagement to get her back here.
I wasn’t dumb. I could see right through her hidden message, and I even took a screenshot and saved it.
After that, I checked her Instagram.
As expected, everything was about Jayvon.
Since she got back to the country, Jayvon had been glued to her, buying her bags, shoes, and jewelry, and taking her on trips.
She took photos every time and even posted quite a few with Jayvon without any hesitation..
One of the photos was taken while they were climbing a mountain. They stood in the sunlight, with Jayvon smiling brightly and looking at her with so much affection. Anyone could tell what he was thinking.
Jaslene even wrote sweetly in the caption: “My cousin is so nice his back.”

Jayvon and I had many mutual friends, and their relationship was pretty much an open secret among his buddies. Lots of people left comments wishing them happiness together.

My stomach felt like it was churning.
I didn’t know if it was from drinking too much last night or from seeing their gross behavior.
Anyway, I took screenshots of Jaslene’s posts and kept the evidence.
When I thought that while I was waiting for Jayvon to pick out the ring, he was all lovey–dovey with Jaslene, my heart ached.

I floored the gas and drove straight to the Sawyer’s villa. I wasn’t planning on giving Jayvon any more chances. I was going to call off the engagement today!
I parked the car and calmly walked through the gate. As soon as the servant saw me, he went inside to let them know I was there.
Within minutes, Pablo came out with a big smile, looking delighted to see me. “Bree, here you are. We just made your favorite dishes. You have perfect timing. Let’s have a meal together!”
He took my arm and guided me inside. Although he was usually very kind to me, I was there to call off the engage- ment and didn’t want to get involved in anything else.
I said earnestly, “Sir Sawyer, I wanna cancel the engagement with Jayvon.”
Pablo was taken aback. He didn’t expect me to say that. “What? Cancel the engagement?”
