Chapter 14 You Go Marry Jayvon Instead?
Maleah walked up to Clayton and held his arm, crying and complaining, “Dad! Look how Brianna treats me! I just kindly reminded her that Jayvon was having an affair with another woman, and she got mad at me. She even used the past event to frame me again!
“I would never do something like that, and you know it!”
Clayton gently patted Maleah’s head and comforted her softly, “Of course, I believe you. Brianna is going too far this time.”
With that, he turned to look at me with a cold gaze, saying disdainfully, “What have you been thinking? Maleah is your sister! She would never hurt you, would she? She said she didn’t do it! Stop being so narrow–minded, will you? You’re really nothing like a well–educated young lady. No wonder Jayvon betrayed you!”
Was it my fault that Jayvon betrayed me? Was it my fault that Maleah stole my design?
This family really made me feel a chill in my heart.
Clayton knew my temper. So, before I retorted, he added, “You’re about to get engaged. Don’t cause trouble these days. If you piss the Sawyer family off and make them regret and cancel the engagement, it’ll be a huge loss to our family.”
Maleah gloated, echoing, “That’s right, Brianna. Anyway, you picked Jayvon in the first place and have been with him for five years.
“Besides, cheating is kinda men’s nature. Just endure it. It’s already so lucky for you to marry into the Sawyer family. Don’t act on impulse.”
My eyes turned cold as I stared at these two phony people in front of me. Suddenly, I chuckled with a sneer, “Since you said so, why don’t you go marry Jayvon instead? That will bring benefit to the Lucero family as well.”
“Nonsense!” Clayton snapped angrily.
And he immediately shielded Maleah behind him, scolding me, “How could you joke about that kind of thing with Maleah? Mr. Bernard is the one Maleah will marry in the future. How could she marry a man who’s unfaithful to his love?”
I snorted coldly, “So she can’t, but I can? How shameless for you to say that?”
Right after my words fell, the entire living room fell silent.
Clayton also knew what he had just said was unfair. Most importantly, he knew that he was also a man who was un- faithful to his love.
Being stared at like this by me, he sweated with a sense of guilt.
I had already been used to being treated by them like that. I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel a single bit of sadness just now. But still, I had no good expectations for them either.
“I won’t marry him anyway.”
With that, I walked past them, ready to go upstairs to rest. But Alisa suddenly stopped me and sneered at me, “Don’t be so bad–tempered. You gave up on Jayvon for just a small matter? It must be very hard for Jayvon to please you. No wonder you can’t keep his heart.
“I suggest you learn from Maleah. When she’s with Mr. Bernard, she can definitely grasp his heart tightly.”
I sneered back, “Being with him? They’re still just two strangers now, aren’t they?”
Maleah had always thought highly of herself, looking down on every man in the world, except for “Mr. Bernard“, who was now in charge of the entire Bernard Group. He was wealthy, powerful, and absolutely outstanding among the young men of wealthy families in Wildemere.
But he had been single for so many years. How could he possibly fall in love with a spoiled girl like Maleah?
I remarked directly, “You want her to marry into the Bernard family? What a daydream.”
With that, I lifted my foot, ready to leave. Just at this time, the butler called out to Clayton from behind, “Mr. Lucero, Mr. Sawyer is here. He said he was here to apologize to Ms. Brianna!”
