Chapter 18 Leave Now!
I’d always been realistic about my looks. Over the years, I’d dealt with enough creeps to know exactly what disgusting thoughts these men had.
Ignoring him, I took another sip of my drink, trying to calm my nerves.
The sudden pressure to discuss marriage had me on edge. I had no patience for his games.
But the man beside me wasn’t giving up. Taking my silence as fear, he leaned closer, his greasy hand inching toward my thigh. His tone oozed sleaze.
“Drinking alone? Did someone break your heart? Let me buy you a drink, sweetheart.”
His breath reeked of alcohol, making my stomach churn.
I jerked away, my irritation boiling over.
“Back off. I’m not in the mood for your crap.”
Whistles and jeers erupted
hind me.
The man laughed louder. “Feisty, huh? ‘Back off? Show me what you’ve got, baby!
“Or is this a bedroom thing? Don’t worry. I’ll make it good for you!”
Disgusting.
As he lunged to grab my waist, I snapped. I grabbed my glass and smashed it over his head.
With a crash, the glass shattered on the floor.
He howled in pain, glass shattering at his feet. He whirled on me, eyes blazing. “You stupid bitch! You hit me? Do you even know who you’re messing with?”
“I don’t care if you’re the damn president!”
I reached for a chair.
The man, clutching his bleeding head, shouted angrily, “What are you idiots waiting for? Get her!”
His
gang of friends snapped out of their daze and lunged at me. Meanwhile, he cowardly retreated, clearly shaken.
Outwardly calm, I was secretly panicking.
I’d acted impulsively. I was no martial artist. How did I fight off multiple guys alone?
But I couldn’t back down now.

Gripping the chair, I glared at them.
“Try it!”
One thug sneered, “Think we’re scared of a little girl? Boss offered you a chance, but you chose trouble!”
This was bad.

They weren’t buying my bluff. As they started rolling up their sleeves to grab me, I instinctively closed my eyes. But the pain I expected never came.
“A group of men bullyin
one woman? Pathetic.”
The voice sounded familiar.
I opened my eyes to see Humberto’s broad back. Dressed in a black suit, he stood casually nearby, adjusting his cuf- flinks.
His calm tone carried an icy edge.
“Who the hell are you? Mind your own business!”
The leader scoffed.
Humberto remained unfazed. “Who I am doesn’t matter. Walk away, and I’ll let this slide.”

“You think you can order us around…”
“Shut up!”
The bleeding man suddenly cut off his lackey, recognition flashing in his eyes.
