Chapter 6
Soon after, the front door was pushed open, and Knox walked in.
To my shock, Bailey was right behind him.
She hid partially behind Knox, looking pitiful and vulnerable.
My parents‘ expressions, which had softened slightly after the Blackstones‘ apology, instantly darkened again.
Knox was truly beyond help if he dared to bring her to my family home at a time like this.
Mr. Blackstone firstly rushed up to his son and delivered a resounding slap across his face.
“You ungrateful fool! You dare bring this woman here?!”
Knox’s cheek instantly swelled and reddened.
Clearly, he hadn’t expected his father to strike him in public, and stood there stunned.
“Dad, let me explain-”
“Explain what?”
Another hard slap landed on his other cheek.
“You’ve completely disgraced our family name!”
Having been humiliated in front of Bailey, Knox had lost all face.
Just as he was about to protest, Mr. Blackstone aimed a kick at him.
Unexpectedly, Bailey threw herself forward, shielding Knox and taking the blow herself.
“Ahh!”
She cried out in pain, collapsing to the floor, clutching her leg. Her face turned pale as tears immediately sprang to her eyes.
Mrs. Blackstone, seeing through this theatrical display, trembled with rage.
“You scheming bitch! You’re still playing the victim even now!”
As Mrs. Blackstone lunged toward her, Knox quickly pulled Bailey into his protective embrace.
Watching this spectacle, I couldn’t help but laugh, giving them a slow, sarcastic round of applause.
“What a devoted couple you
make~”
Knox looked up at me, his eyes filled with anger.
“Vega, you venomous woman, stop slandering my relationship with Bailey!”
“We’re completely innocent–there’s nothing inappropriate between us!”

He continued to hold Bailey protectively.
“I’m just trying to make amends for how cruelly you treated her!”
At these words, my father shot to his feet, livid with rage.
“How has my daughter been cruel?!”
Mr. Blackstone delivered another slap to Knox’s face.
“Shut your mouth! Say one more word and I’ll break your legs!”
Then Mr. Blackstone turned to me with an apologetic smile, his voice suddenly gentle and respectful.
“Vega, I promise we’ll resolve this to your complete satisfaction.”
I stood up, looking around at everyone before finally resting my gaze on Knox.
“Since both our families are present today, and everyone has witnessed Knox’s choice…”
“There’s no point in maintaining this marriage any longer.”
I produced the divorce papers I had prepared.
“I’ve already drafted and signed the divorce agreement. The assets will be divided according to our prenuptial agreement.”
