Chapter 5: The Real Mate
Selene’s POV
The report showed that, from childhood to now, Chloe Parker, as a werewolf, had been in excellent health, with all her physical indicators normal, and her wolf
was very active.
“Chloe, are you faking being sick? Why are you lying to us?”
Eleanor Brooks frowned after reading the report, then turned to Chloe and coldly questioned her.
Chloe Parker’s expression visibly became flustered, but she took a deep breath,
quickly calming herself. With an innocent look, she said:
“Eleanor, I’m not faking being sick.”
“I really have been sick since I was young. It’s just that no hospital could figure it out. There was even a time when I couldn’t feel my wolf at all.”
Her voice lowered, filled with deep disappointment: “Everyone hopes to have good health. There’s no benefit in pretending to be sick.”
“Selene, I didn’t expect you to have all my childhood medical reports. You’ve gone through so much effort to investigate me. What exactly are you trying to do?”
As she spoke, she couldn’t stop coughing, her lips turning pale, showing her acting skills were on point.
Chloe Parker took a breath and continued, “Selene, you did this on purpose, didn’t you? You want Eleanor to misunderstand that I’m faking being sick. What’s your plan?”
“Are you afraid I’ll take away your mother? But I never thought about taking anything from you…”
Chloe Parker’s ability to capture the hearts of Eleanor Brooks and Jaxon
Lancaster wasn’t just due to her fake frailty.

In just a few words, she turned the conflict back on me.
Eleanor Brooks, who had felt guilty before, now cast a suspicious glance at me. She furrowed her brows and questioned, “Selene, why did you check Chloe’s medical report? You said you were happy to have Chloe at home.”
Meeting Eleanor Brooks’s resentful gaze, I forced a smile that was even uglier than crying.
Didn’t they know that if I hadn’t mate with Jaxon, I would have no right to stay in the pack?
I was disappointed in this family. Maybe it really was time for me to leave.
I lowered my eyes and coldly said, “Whether she stays in the Brooks family or not, I don’t care. I’m no longer a part of the Brooks family. There’s something you might not know.”
The three of them looked at me in
confusion.
I said each word slowly, “I already have a mate. I came back today only to pack my things. I won’t come back and disturb you anymore.”
What they did with Chloe Parker was no longer my concern.
As soon as I said this, the expressions of the three in front of me changed.
Chloe Parker looked visibly delighted, Eleanor Brooks was shocked, and Jaxon
Lancaster looked confused.
“Who marked you!?”
Jaxon Lancaster’s question only made me laugh.
I coldly smirked and mocked, “There are others in Wind Stock Town who are willing to mark me, not just you, Jaxon Lancaster.”
Jaxon Lancaster’s expression changed, his

face tense: “Selene, I know it was wrong to miss the marking ceremony, but you shouldn’t say such things on purpose!”
Everyone in Wind Stock Town knew that Selene Brooks was about to be Jaxon
Lancaster’s moon.
Who would dare want me?
I couldn’t be bothered to explain. I passed by them and went straight to my room.
I stared at this familiar room, not even having time to shed a tear. After quickly packing some clothes, I dragged my
suitcase downstairs.
Jaxon Lancaster and the others were still

sitting in the living room. When they heard the sound, they all turned to look.
“Do you really have a mate?”
Jaxon Lancaster jumped up from his seat. Even Eleanor Brooks looked surprised,
her brows furrowed in confusion, not understanding why he was so anxious.
“Are you getting back at me on purpose?” Jaxon Lancaster stared at me, speaking urgently, “How could you accept someone else?”
It seemed like Jason still believed that no matter what he did, I would forgive him because I liked him so much.

I didn’t look at Jaxon Lancaster even once and dragged my suitcase towards the door.
Jaxon Lancaster tensed up, his hands clenched into fists by his side. I could almost hear his wolf howling in anger.
“You’ll come back, I guarantee it!”
