Chapter 6
The next morning, Everett and I went to the bridal boutique to try on our wedding outfits.
The ceremony was less than ten days away, and we still hadn’t finalized the outfits.
The moment we walked in, the stylist greeted us with a smile.[]
“Miss Sloane Mercer! We made the adjustments you requested. Let’s have you try it on again.“]
She was holding the wedding gown I’d designed myself.
Everett’s tux too–I’d sketched and stitched both with my own hands.
I remembered staying up countless nights dreaming about this day. How stupid was
I smiled politely.
“Actually… I’d like to try a different one.“[]
That stopped everyone in their tracks–including Everett.]]
He blinked. “Wait, what did you say?“[]
“I just feel like it’s not quite the right fit anymore,” I said with a smile. []
“It’s my wedding dress. It should feel… right.”[]
He frowned. “But you designed it yourself.“[]

“So? Just because you create something doesn’t mean it’s meant for you
forever.”
I looked him dead in the eye.
“Sometimes, even the person you picked to spend your life with ends up being the wrong fit.“[]
“A dress is no different.“[]
He looked stunned.
“Don’t you agree, baby?” I said sweetly.[]
Then I turned to the stylist.
“Mind helping me try something else?“]
We spent the whole afternoon trying on dress after dress. None of them felt right.[]
Eventually, I just pointed to a random one. “That one. It’ll do.“[]
Everett’s smile faltered. He looked… rattled. That was new.

“Babe, I really think you looked best in the one you designed. This one’s just not-
I cut him off.
“I already told you. I don’t like it anymore, And if you think this one isn’t the right fit either…”
I looked at him with the faintest smirk.
