The SAT was finally over.
I slept soundly in the dormitory for half a month.
When the scores came out, someone threw a celebration party.
The class was full of chatter; everyone was relaxed now after completing a major event in their lives.
Sophia put on her cruel smile, stopped me, and asked, “Emma, you didn’t look so great during the exam. Did some- thing happen?
“You looked pretty out of it. Don’t tell me you messed up the exam.

“What will you do then? An Omega like you is counting on a good university to change your fate. If you mess up, your life will be completely over.”
I smiled cheerfully.
“I guess I did mess up a little.”
Doing too well was still a kind of messing up, right?
For some reason, I felt like I was on fire during the exam. Every question looked familiar, and I completed them with
ease.
When I saw my score–higher than anything I’d ever estimated–even I couldn’t help but let out a rare scream.
The noisy classroom suddenly went quiet.
I looked up, curious, and saw Marcus walking toward me.
The once aloof golden boy was now dejected, with messy hair and scruffy stubble.
His eyes were firmly fixed on me.
Someone hurried in behind him, dressed like a butler straight out of a TV series in a tailcoat.
“Mr. Powell, what are you doing here?
“We’ve checked your scores–just a few points lower than before. Did something unexpected happen during the ex-
am?
“Still, it’s a great score.
“Your parents are very pleased. They said they’re buying you an island to celebrate.”

Chapter 6
Sophia stepped forward and wrapped her arm around Marcus’s.
“What’s the point of taking the SAT if you’re just gonna become the pack’s Alpha anyway? It’s a waste.
“My mom says she supports me going to Garden Stone University. Marcus, let’s go there together.

“As for Emma, no matter what score she gets, she can still go to a university in her poor pack. But lower–ranked schools are expensive too. Since your family is so poor, why keep studying?”
She stood in front of me like some victorious queen, thinking I’d end up the pathetic loser they crushed.
But Marcus brushed her hand off and stepped closer to me.
“You applied to Blood Pack’s university, right? I’m going there too.
“We-”
His words were cut off by the sound of hurried footsteps.
Two disheveled teachers in suits rushed in and pushed Marcus aside.
Behind them came a crowd of reporters, cameras flashing and mics in hand.
Each teacher grabbed one of my hands and shook it enthusiastically.
“You must be Emma Richards, right? I’m Bessie Roberts from the Daylight University admissions team. Congratula- tions on your outstanding SAT score! We…”
“Emma! I’m with the Moonlit University admissions team. We’re hosting a summer program soon. If you’re interest- ed, I’d love to show you what Moonlit has to offer…”
It seemed that I had guessed my score right.
Higher than Marcus.
The guy who’d always been the center of attention now stood pale–faced, pushed out of the spotlight, and left on the
sidelines.
Sophia screeched, “No way! Impossible!
“She was supposed to mess up! Her life was supposed to fall apart!”
I followed the sound of her voice and glanced in their direction from afar.
Sorry to disappoint.
Not only did I not fall–I caught the wind and soared straight to the top.
Thanks for that.
