The truth was laid bare for all to see. This reversal was so shocking that the entire conference hall, and indeed the entire internet, fell into a strange silence.

My dad, Richard, a dignified professor who had always been proud of his family, trembled violently a few times at the revelation of the final truth, then suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed backward.

My mom, Eleanor, let out an inhuman shriek and also fainted.

The scene descended into chaos. The police quickly brought the situation under control. Dylan was handcuffed and led away. Medical personnel rushed up to attend to my parents.

And Chloe, in her wheelchair, the woman who had just moments ago appeared so fragile and pitiful, now had a face completely devoid of color.

“Audrey Stevens, why didn’t you just die in that village!” she shrieked, struggling to lunge at me from her wheelchair, only to fall helplessly to the ground, utterly disheveled. The

police moved in and restrained her as well.

I stood quietly on the stage, like a solitary statue.

The lead police officer approached me and asked in a low voice, “Dr. Stevens, who was the person providing remote guidance through the earpiece? He also needs to cooperate with the investigation.”

I shook my head, then pointed to an unassuming corner at the back of the hall.

Standing there was a man about my age. He was dressed simply, his eyes calm, and he had been nothing more than an observer throughout.

“His name is Caleb,” I said softly, “He’s my senior brother. And another successor to my mentor. On the day of the surgery, he was in the observation room next door, providing guidance through the real-time footage transmitted by Hummingbird.”

“We did this not only to save a life but also to gather the most complete chain of evidence, proving that Dylan and TheraMed Innovations simply did not have the capability to independently complete this technology.”

My senior brother, Caleb, nodded at me and walked proactively towards the police to cooperate with the investigation.

I knew he wouldn’t face any trouble. Because all of our actions were within the framework of the law. We merely exposed the fraudsters using their own methods.

Soon, everyone in the conference hall dispersed. Only my parents, who had been revived, remained. They looked at me, their eyes incredibly complex.

My mom, Eleanor, opened her mouth, her voice hoarse. “Audrey… we… we didn’t know…”

I shook my head, saying nothing.

Didn’t know?

You didn’t know Chloe would poison me, didn’t know she’d set a trap.

But you *did* know that when I needed support the most, you chose to accuse me. Between me and a stranger, you unhesitatingly chose the stranger. Your favoritism and blindness were the most toxic poison that hurt me.

I walked out of the conference hall. The sky outside had already darkened. The city lights, to my eyes, had lost all their color. I pulled out my phone, which was flooded with

news.

My name, once dragged through hell, was now elevated back onto a pedestal, even higher than before. But all of it meant nothing to me anymore.
