Chapter 9
Pointing at Dad, Simon barked the truth, “One of your kidneys came from Zora. And her other kidney is now in Laila’s body! Both of you stole her kidneys and killed her!”
Just then, a loud noise drowned out his yell. Laila knocked over her food on the table.
She clutched her stomach in panic, trying to divert our parents‘ attention. “Mom, Dad, my stomach hurts. Hurry up and get
Healer Petra here now!”
But Mom, who’d always doted on her, stood frozen in place. The color had drained from her face, and she seemed completely oblivious to Laila’s situation. “Zora’s dead? That’s impossible. Are you tricking us on her behalf?”
As if she’d suddenly found a loophole, Mom sneered and continued, “If she only had one kidney, why would she agree to donate
one to Laila? This must be another one of her lies.
“And I saw it with my own eyes—Laila has that surgical scar. It can’t be faked! But Zora didn’t even have a single mark on her.”
Simon gave her a pitying look. “Even an Omega with weak healing abilities would recover from a surgical wound in a few days.
Maybe you should ask Laila why she still ended up with such a deep scar, even with all your careful attention?”
Flabbergasted, Mom staggered backward before regaining her balance. She slowly turned to Laila and asked, “Laila, is that true?”
Laila began to panic.
“That’s not true!” she cried, shaking her head frantically. “I didn’t do that!”
Nonetheless, Simon threw the stack of evidence in front of Mom and Dad. “Didn’t you want to know why Zora agreed to donate her kidney to Laila, even though she only had one? Because she was dying!
“And even at death’s door, she still wanted to fulfill your wishes–to become the perfect daughter you always wanted? Is this
good enough for you now?”
Dad fell to his knees, his hands trembling as he gathered the scattered documents.
At that moment, the healer who had performed the transplant stepped forward. “Indeed, Ms. Laila wasn’t the one who donated
the kidney back then. She paid me a large sum to keep the truth hidden.”
She began to shake.
“As for the wolfsbane in Ms. Zora… that really wasn’t my doing!” she quavered. “Ms. Laila injected it into Ms. Zora herself. She
asked me to do it, but I refused. I couldn’t bring myself to do something so cruel.”
“What did you just say?” Mom and Dad cried out in shock, staring at Laila in disbelief.
“You heard her,” Simon said coldly. “Zora was poisoned with wolfsbane six months ago by her dear sister. And she endured it all
this time!”

He suddenly clutched his head, overcome with anguish. “Why didn’t I believe her? Why did I doubt her? I watched her grow weaker by the day, yet I thought she was just faking it just to get our attention.“.
Jerking his head up, he pointed at Laila and bellowed, “To steal Zora’s credit, she dumped Zora at the edge of the forest after stealing her kidney. But all of you blindly believed her lies. You’re the ones who killed Zora!”
With undeniable proof and testimony, Laila’s lies finally unraveled completely. There was no way she could cover them up now.
