Chapter 20
Mia’s eyes gleamed with defiance, and arrogance was practically oozing from every pore.
“You must have gone crying to Sebastian again, right? But did he believe you? Face it, Vivienne. You’re nothing to him. If you’d drowned in that pool, it would’ve saved him the trouble of divorcing you. That’s how little you matter.”
Vivienne suddenly grabbed the water cup at her side and hurled it straight at Mia.
A loud crash sounded as the cup hit the ground and shattered into pieces.
Vienne’s eyes
s were cold and piercing. Her pale lips pressed into a line as she spat out two icy words, “Get out.”
Seeing Vivienne lose her temper, Mia laughed mockingly. “Oh, dear. What’s with the furious expression? Did I hit a nerve?”
She was about to say more when the door to the hospital room suddenly opened.
Sebastian’s gaze swept across the broken glass scattered on the floor, and his expression darkened. He looked up at Vivienne, who was lying in the hospital bed. She had lost a lot of weight lately, and her complexion was no longer the healthy, rosy tone it used to be. Now, it was pale and weak, making her seem even more fragile.

Sebastian asked blandly, “Why are you so angry?”
Vivienne let out a cold laugh. “Mr. Holt, aren’t you asking the obvious? When faced with someone utterly repulsive, what else would one do but lash out?” Sebastian was silent for a moment. He knew that Vivienne’s dislike for Melanie was no secret. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have clashed with her so often.
He turned toward Melanie and Mia. “You two should go.”
“Sebastian-
“We’ll talk outside.”
Melanie glanced at Vivienne, then obediently left the room with Mia.
Sebastian then said to Vivienne, “I’ll be right back.”

Outside the room, Mia scoffed. “See that, Melanie? Vivienne is going to accuse me of pushing her into the water. What’s the big deal? She acts like falling in is the end of the world. She’s so dramatic!
“And Sebastian has been visiting her every day since. She uses these cheap tricks to get his attention. What a scheming little witch! She’s probably going to ask Sebastiani to punish me–not because she cares about justice, but just to prove to you how much power she has over him now.
Just as she finished speaking, Sebastian stepped out. The moment Mia saw him, she instinctively felt a chill of fear.
“Is Ms. Moore okay?” Melanie softly asked.
“1
“She’s fine,” Sebastian replied in a calm tone before turning to lea
Mia. “Why did you push Vivienne into the water?”
“I didn’t push her!” Mia quickly defended herself, still trying to sound confident. She jumped in on purpose to frame me! Sebastian, she’s ruthless. There’s nothing she wouldn’t do to get your attention!”
Hearing that, something unreadable passed through Sebastian’s eyes. His expression cooled like glass under winter light. Mia’s breath caught in her throat as those cold, penetrating eyes bore into her, and she involuntarily shrank back.
