Chapter 22
Vivienne had also sent someone to investigate. Someone filming the scenery from the second floor had captured the incident by chance.
Sebastian’s dark eyes dimmed. “Let Mia off the hook. I’ll make it up to you later.”
“Later?” Vivienne found it both absurd and laughable. “The three–year mark is almost up, and you’re now talking to me about the future?”
Sebastian was silent for a few seconds. “We don’t have to get divorced.”
She looked even more surprised. “Sebastian, you were so eager to divorce me earlier. And now, just to stop me from going after Mia, you’re willing to make such a big sacrifice?”
His brow furrowed slightly. “If Melanie hadn’t returned and you hadn’t kept targeting her and causing trouble for her, I would never have thought about divorcing

Vivienne recalled Sebastian’s words. She realized that during their marriage, he had never once mentioned divorce, even though he was cold to her.
That small detail had always given her a silver of hope. However, that hope was completely shattered with Melanie’s return.
If this had happened before, Vivienne would be elated beyond words after hearing that.
But now…
Vivienne let out a cold laugh. “Looks like you crave excitement, Mr. Holt. You want to have your cake and eat it too. What’s next? Do you plan to keep both under the same roof?”
Looking at her pale, weak face, Sebastian recalled the moment she nearly drowned and her helplessness as he pulled her from the water.
Even at the peak of his resentment, he had never wished for her death.
“Melanie saved my life once,” Sebastian explained, his deep and mellow voice filling the quiet hospital room. “I owe her a lot.”
Though he didn’t love Vivienne, even he had to admit that she was the perfect wife docile, perceptive, and never one for petty drama.
He knew she married him for money, but that didn’t bother him–he had more than enough. As long as she behaved, he didn’t mind giving her what she wanted. Romance had never been something he cared about. His focus had always been on his career.
If Melanie hadn’t saved him, he would
never looked at Vivienne differently.
After being saved by Melanie, Sebastian had asked what she wanted. She said that she wanted him to marry her, and she agreed without hesitation. However, Edwin vehemently opposed the relationship. Then, out of nowhere, Vivienne appeared and set him up.
Heartbroken, Melanie left, and Sebastian found himself being forced to marry Vivienne instead. He had assumed his life would continue to remain like this.
However, for some reason, ever since Melanie returned, Vivienne seemed to have changed.
She constantly targeted Melanie and made things difficult for her. She even caused a scene in public, utterly embarrassing him.
If Vivienne hadn’t become so excessive, Sebastian never would have brought up divorce. However, none of that mattered to her anymore.

“Mia is Melanie’s only friend. I don’t want you
to pursue this any further.”
Vivienne laughed. “Sebastian, do you think you’re a saint by not divorcing me? That I’ll swallow my pride and give in to your whims for your sake?”
