I skimmed a few of the messages. Most of them were from Anne and some of our other friends. There were also some texts from an unfamiliar number.
From the contents of the messages, I could tell that it was Nathan, texting me with a new number he had somehow gotten.
I blocked the unfamiliar number and opened Facebook, where I also had countless unread messages.
Many friends were asking if something had happened to me.
Exasperated, I just posted a public statement. “I am fine. I have just cut ties with certain things from the past and am no longer associated with certain people.”
As soon as the post went out, Anne gave it a like and immediately called me, complaining. “Yvonne, you’re finally awake! Nathan’s lost his mind!”
She sounded exhausted, which made me a little confused.
After she told me what happened during the night, I couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Nathan had contacted every single one of our mutual friends, yet he still couldn’t find me, so he continued harassing Anne. He had been calling her all night since midnight, and when she refused to pick up his calls, he even went to her house and knocked on her door.

“Yvonne, do you think he’s gone mad? I’ve already told him that you’re not with me, but he’s convinced that you’re hiding at my place. He even insisted that I open the door so he could look for you. What does he expect me to do? Magically pull you out of thin air?” Yvonne complained.
I laughed, equally speechless.
