As Flynn leaned in, clearly about to kiss her, Niamh pushed him away without
hesitation.
“For the record, there’s nothing wrong with Jonathan in that department.”
It sounded like Niamh was trying to defend Jonathan’s reputation, which made Flynn smirk.
“Then if that’s not the issue, why are you so determined to divorce him? Let me guess–he’s seeing someone else, isn’t he?”
“What exactly do you know?” Niamh narrowed her eyes, refusing to believe Flynn was clueless about her marriage.
“Marina… She’s Jonathan’s high school classmate. His first love, actually. She broke up with him out of the blue just before graduation and went abroad. Now she’s back, and suddenly Jonathan’s launching a whole new jewelry line for her, opening a studio for her–if you expect me to believe there’s nothing going on, you’d be fooling yourself.”
As a top attorney, Flynn’s knowledge didn’t surprise Niamh in the slightest.
“I tried to catch him cheating with Marina, but I failed.”
“Even if he didn’t actually cheat, everything he’s done could still count as grounds for irreconcilable differences.”
Flynn’s words made Niamh look up, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
But Flynn didn’t dwell on it. He shifted the conversation back. “So, if Jonathan’s got
a mistress, don’t you ever feel tempted to give him a taste of his own medicine?”
Niamh knew exactly how Flynn saw her: a prize just out of reach.
“No,” she said, shaking her head.
“Don’t tell me you’re still in love with him.”
Niamh was caught off guard. Flynn burst out laughing, nearly doubling over.
“Wow, never thought you’d be so pathetic!”
“I just don’t want Jonathan turning around and accusing me of cheating during our marriage,” Niamh retorted, her tone firm and righteous.
Flynn shrugged, perfectly aware she was just making excuses.

“If you’re not staying the night, then you can see yourself out.”
Niamh blinked, surprised he was letting her go so easily.
“What, did you think I’d force myself on you?” Flynn poured himself a drink. “Assault is a crime, you know. I’m a law–abiding citizen. Even if I were to sleep with a client, there’d be a contract–consent on both sides. Fair deal.”
Niamh couldn’t help but laugh. No wonder he was a lawyer.
Just as she turned to leave, the door swung open–suddenly a man stormed in.
He took one look at Flynn, sprawled on the sofa in nothing but a bathrobe, drink in hand, and without a word, threw a punch straight at Flynn’s face.
The scene descended into chaos. Niamh rushed to break them apart.
Never in a million years did she expect to see Preston Winslow here.
“He didn’t touch you, did he?!” Preston demanded, pointing furiously at Flynn, whose face was already bruised and bloody.
After Niamh quickly explained the situation, the fury in Preston’s eyes finally started to fade.
Flynn wiped the blood from his nose.
“How did you even get in here?”
“My family owns this hotel,” Preston replied, absolutely unapologetic.
“Got it. I’ll make sure not to stay here again.”
Flynn retreated to the dressing room to change, then slunk out of the suite like a defeated soldier.
Now it was just Niamh and Preston Winslow, alone in the room.
“Are you out of your mind?!”
Niamh had expected Preston to comfort her; instead, she got a full–blown scolding. “A woman alone, meeting a man in a hotel room this late at night–do you have any sense at all? Do you even know what kind of person Flynn is? That guy’s slept with enough women to populate a small country. And you want him to represent you? That’s like sending a lamb into the lion’s den! If I hadn’t come by tonight to check on things and seen you here, do you have any idea what could’ve happened?!”
Niamh’s ears were ringing from Preston’s shouting.
