Chapter 7
“Nia!”
Jackson’s voice suddenly came from behind.
She turned around and saw him getting out of the car, then he hugged her and said anxiously, “You ran away from
Desmond, why didn’t you tell me? You didn’t come home, do you know how long I’ve been looking for you?”
Shania leaned on his chest, smelling the lingering scent of Katherine’s perfume on him, and whispered, “Do you still care
about my well-being now?”
“Why don’t I care about you?” Jackson tightened his arms, “I sent Katherine back and came to find you right away.”
Shania wanted to laugh, but couldn’t.
She held up the soggy letter, “Do you remember this? The time capsule we buried when we were eighteen.”
Jackson frowned, “What time capsule? Did we bury this thing?”
He glanced at the sky, “Alright, let’s head back. It’s so windy, you’ll get sick later and Katherine will have to take care of
you.”
At that moment, Shania laughed.
She was laughing and then she burst into tears.
Originally, she couldn’t forget, but he did.
Shania, did you hear? He had already forgotten a long time ago!
In the following days, Shania stayed at home recovering from her injury, watching Katherine’s attitude towards Jackson gradually soften.
He started accepting the jewelry and handbags he gave her with pleasure.
He would come home late at night, and she would be waiting in the living room.
Sometimes, Shania could see Katherine secretly holding hands with Jackson.
A week later, the three of them attended a business cocktail party together.
Jackson was going out and before leaving, he told Shania, “Take care of Katherine.”
The socialites around were whispering to each other.
“Did you see that? Mr. Pruitt actually had his wife take care of his mistress, he spoiled her like crazy.”
“What’s more, the mistress is dressed even more elegantly than the wife, clearly pampered to the core.”
“But I heard before that Mr. Pruitt didn’t really love Mrs. Pruitt, right? So how come now…”
“Used to love, now found even greater love, seriously, things change in a flash.”

Shania listened quietly to everything, not saying a word.
Katherine seemed bored and impatient, she said to Shania, “I’ll just wander around by myself, Mrs. Pruitt, you don’t have to follow me, I won’t get into trouble.”
After saying that, before Shania could even respond, she disappeared with the champagne.
Not even ten minutes passed when Shania heard a familiar scream not far away.
She rushed over and saw a playboy grabbing Katherine’s wrist tightly, saying, “Bitch, acting all high and mighty, in all of
Oswax, there’s no woman I can’t touch!”
“Asshole, don’t touch me!” Katherine struggled with red eyes, “I’m telling you, I may be poor, but I have dignity and won’t let you humiliate me like this!”
Shania was about to step forward, but then she saw Katherine pull out a delicate little knife from her purse.
A flash of cold light, and blood was suddenly seen on the dandy’s face.
The dandy was furious and raised his hand to hit her.
Just then, a dark shadow came rushing towards us.
Jackson’s fist slammed hard into the man’s face.
Shania stood there, watching him like a raging lion, punching him over and over until his face was covered in blood.
“Mr. Pruitt…” the dandy pleaded with blood all over his face, “we still have cooperation between our two families, right?”
“It’s gone now,” Jackson announced coldly, looking at everyone. “Remember, from now on, anyone who dares to touch Katherine is making an enemy of the entire Pruitt Group!”
“And he, that’s what he got in the end!”
In the dead silence, Jackson had someone drag away the dandy who had been beaten half to death.
When he turned around, Shania instinctively took a step back.
“Shania!” his anger still lingering in his eyes, “Is this how you took care of Katherine?”
She opened her mouth, but couldn’t say anything.
The light from the crystal lamp was too bright, it hurt her eyes.
She watched as he carefully held Katherine in his arms and left, suddenly remembering the year they got married, when someone accidentally spilled red wine on her dress and he also immediately lost his temper.
Back then he said, “My wife, no one can bully her.”
Now he said, “My Katherine, no one messes with her.”
They were right, honestly, things really do change in the blink of an eye.

After the party, the three of them went back together.
Until a loud phone ring suddenly broke the silence.
“What? Okay, I’ll be right there!”
Katherine hung up the phone and burst into tears, “Mr. Pruitt, can you please take me to the hospital first… my grandma… my grandma is critically ill…”
Jackson didn’t hesitate at all, he quickly turned the steering wheel to change direction.
Amid the screeching of the tires against the ground, Shania’s forehead slammed hard against the car window, but he didn’t even spare her a glance, only focusing on comforting Katherine, who was crying uncontrollably in the passenger
seat.
“Don’t be afraid,” he said, gripping the steering wheel with one hand and tightly holding Katherine’s trembling hand with the other, “I’m here.”
When I got to the hallway, the doctor had just come out of the operating room.
“The old lady’s liver failed. Maybe a transplant could have bought her some time, but personally, I don’t think it’s necessary. She’s already old, and finding a liver donor is not easy nowadays.”
“Do it! You must do the surgery!” Katherine suddenly grabbed the doctor’s white coat, her nails almost digging into the fabric, “I’ll pay any amount!”
Jackson already took out his phone and said, “I’ll have someone find a liver source right away.”
His back as he made the phone call was as straight as a pine tree. Just like when Shania’s father had a heart attack years ago, he quickly called in the best experts in the city.
Just now, this opportunity was given to someone else.
The assistant’s phone rang back quickly.
Shania stood to the side, clearly seeing Jackson’s eyebrows furrowed, “Who?”
The voice on the phone was hesitant, but the assistant’s voice finally came through clearly, “It’s… Mrs. Pruitt. The match is perfect.”
Katherine suddenly turned to look at Shania, tears still on her face, but she had already reached out and grabbed her hand, saying, “Mrs. Pruitt, please…”
Her fingers were ice-cold, with sticky cold sweat.
Shania instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but Jackson grabbed it.
“Nia, just donate a little,” his voice was soft, gentle, “you won’t die.”
