“The auspicious time has arrived.”

“Please welcome the groom

Everyone’s eyes turned to the corridor leading

to the back hall.

Livia also looked forward with anticipation,

lifting her skirt, ready to welcome the groom.

Prescott Landis was still wearing that black

suit, but his expression was colder than ever.

In his hands, he was not holding flowers, but

a black wooden spirit tablet.

The center of the spirit tablet was written

with three words Prescott Landis!

Next to the spirit tablet was an enlarged

black and white photo.

The boy in the photo looked exactly like

Prescott Landis!

Livia’s smile froze on her face.

The color quickly drained from her face,

turning it pale.

“Prescott…”

Her voice was trembling, with a hint of terror.

“What… what’s going on?”

“Who is he?”

Prescott Landis walked up to her and stared

at her coldly. “Prescott, is my twin brother

who died in a car accident a year ago.

“The master said that he died too young and

his resentment has not dissipated, so he

needs a spirit marriage to rest in peace in the

underworld.”

His words stabbed harshly into Livia’s heart.

“That day on the roadside, you selflessly

saved me.”

“At that moment, I knew that you were the

bride chosen by heaven for Prescott.”

“Livia,” he lowered his head slightly and

whispered in her ear, “Thank you for

becoming my brother’s wife.”

Boom!

The last nerve in Livia’s mind snapped.

She screamed, her legs went weak, and she

collapsed to the ground.

I stood in the corner of the crowd, coldly

watching her being picked up by two

bodyguards, dragging her like a dead dog

toward the back hall,

Her desperate cries and curses echoed in the

empty hall, and were finally completely cut off

by a heavy mahogany door.

Prescott straightened his cuffs, walked up to

me, and nodded slightly. “Ms. Monroe, thank

you for coming to the ceremony.”

“You’re welcome.” I returned a smile.

“Congratulations, Mr. Landis, on putting an

end to a matter of concern.”

He gave me a deep look, his eyes complex

and inscrutable.

After the engagement party, Livia

disappeared from the face of the earth.

Her phone was switched off, and her social

media remained forever frozen on that post

showing off her engagement.

The bridesmaids who had gone with her were

silenced by the Landis family, so frightened

that they ran back home and never mentioned

the matter again.

To the outside world, it seemed that a

wealthy wife should no longer show her face
