Chapter 3
I was just about to speak when Lillian peeked out from behind Lucas. “Emily? What are you doing here? Lucas is taking me to an auction to bid for my birthday gift. You should come too.”
My tone was icy. “No.”
Lillian’s eyes instantly welled up with tears. “Emily… if you won’t go, does that mean you hate me?”
The moment those words left her lips, Lucas completely forgot about the divorce papers.
His face darkened as he rebuked me, “Just go when you’re told. Stop being difficult.”
In the end, I was shoved into the back of a Bentley and taken to the auction.
But the moment the doors of the auction hall opened, the images flashing across the massive screen froze the blood in
my veins.
Displayed in high definition, 99 uncensored private photos of Lillian cycled on repeat.
“Damn, she’s something else…”
“I wonder how much a night with her costs…”
The murmurs surged like a tidal wave. Lillian’s face drained from flushed pink to ghostly white.
“Turn it off!” she shrieked, trembling violently. “That’s not me!”
Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, she whipped her head toward me. “Emily! Do you hate me so much that you’d humiliate me like this? Are you trying to drive me to my death?!”
With that, she covered her face and bolted out of the hall.
Lucas’s expression was thunderous. “I’ll buy every single one of these photos. Take them down in three seconds-one second late, and I’ll shut this auction house down for good!”
His razor-sharp gaze swept the crowd. “If even a single image leaks from tonight, you’ll regret it.”
Finally, his eyes landed on me, his voice colder than ice. “You. Just wait.”
My mind went blank, my entire body numb with cold as I returned to the villa.
I sat on the sofa, restless with anxiety, waiting the entire night. Only at dawn did the front door slam open with a violent
crash.
When Lucas stormed in, his entire body radiated a chilling fury, his eyes bloodshot as if stained with venom.
“Do you know Lillian jumped off a building?!” His voice was like sandpaper grating against glass. “Thank god it wasn’t
high, or she’d be dead!”
A sour ache rose in my throat. “It wasn’t me who leaked those photos-”
“Not you?” He grabbed my chin, his thumb grinding against my lips. “Did those pictures magically leap from your phone
onto the trending list by themselves?”
My lips trembled, but before I could defend myself, my phone buzzed.

A notification flashed on the screen, “Account cancellation appointment expiring soon.”
I could only wrench free and hurry out to hail a cab.
If I missed this window, I’d have to wait another thirty days.
I didn’t want to wait any longer.
As I stood by the roadside, I could still hear Lucas’s furious roars behind me.
Lost in thought, I suddenly heard the screech of brakes. “Look out-!”
Before I could turn, a tremendous force slammed into me, sending me flying.
In that dazed moment, I thought I saw Lucas running toward me-his face twisted in terror.
