Chapter 14
Lucas’s breathing nearly stopped as the night of the crash five years ago flashed before his eyes.
Windshield glass exploding inward, Adrian using his body to shield Aria in the passenger seat.
And it had all been orchestrated because…
Adrian had discovered Madison’s plot to steal the Sinclair fortune.
He remembered Madison’s declarations of love, her sweet lies….
His fist slammed into the desk, blood seeping between his fingers.
“BANG!”
A wine glass hit the bar with violence, red liquid splashing like blood drops.
‘What the hell has Lucas been up to lately?” Madison stared at Jake, her beautiful eyes full of accusation.
Jake’s smile was arctic. “Shouldn’t Miss Cross know better than anyone? You are his ‘beloved,‘ after all.”
The sarcasm was unmistakable.
Madison’s eyes narrowed, nails cutting into her palms.
Lucas had been growing stranger by the day.
He’d stopped taking her calls, claiming work was too busy, even canceling their planned Paris trip.
Worse, even Lucas’s friends looked at her differently now–their former surface politeness replaced by open disdain.
“Jake,” she suddenly smiled, voice honey sweet, “what would Lucas think if he knew how you all treat me behind his
back?”
Jake laughed coldly, standing to adjust his cufflinks. “Miss Cross, I’d suggest you quit while you’re ahead.”
He leaned close to whisper: “You really think nobody knows about your little tricks?”
Madison’s face went white.
“Take care, Miss Cross.” Jake strode toward the exit, not caring to play word games anymore.

Chapter 14
When Madison returned to the penthouse that night, it was predictably dark and empty.
She picked up flower shears from the coffee table, the sharp “snip, snip” cutting through the silence with an eerie
quality.
The front door suddenly slammed open, and Madison looked up with a smile that froze on her face-
Lucas stood in the doorway, his eyes holding a murderous rage she’d never seen.
“Lucas?” She set down the shears, trying to appear calm. “What’s that expression? Something wrong at work?”
“Five years ago. The parking garage.” His words came out slowly, precisely. “How much did you pay the driver?”
Madison’s fingers clenched involuntarily, nails digging deeper into flesh.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Lucas.” Her voice turned soft and coaxing. “Don’t you trust me?”
Lucas remained silent.
Madison moved closer, fingers trailing up his shoulder with practiced seduction. “You’re really going to give up our several years love over a dead man?”
“You killed my brother and framed Aria…” His voice was hellish gravel. “How dare you talk about love?”
Lucas grabbed her wrist, his grip nearly crushing bone. Madison’s face drained of color, but she couldn’t break free.
“Prove it,” Madison gasped. “Where’s your proof?”
Lucas smiled coldly, pulling a voice recorder from his jacket.
“Your hired driver kept insurance. He’s dead now, but he left everything behind.”
He pressed play, and Madison’s cold voice filled the room.
“Make sure it looks like an accident when you hit them… especially the man in the passenger seat. He has to die.”
Madison’s face went chalk white.
After a frozen moment, she suddenly laughed, calmly pulling her hand free and wiping flower residue on Lucas’s collar. “Finally figured it out? Took you longer than I expected.”
“You admit it?!” Lucas grabbed her throat, slamming her against the wall. “That was two lives! Adrian treated you like family–how could you do this to him?!”
Madison gasped for air but kept smiling. “Because he… got in my way…”

Chapter 14
“You like me, I like money. Where’s the conflict?” She suddenly clawed at his wrist, nails drawing blood. “But you don’t know the real joke, do you…
Madison’s beautiful face twisted with malice: “You think Aria actually loved you? She was looking at you and thinking of Adrian the whole time!”
“Shut up!”
“I’ll say whatever I want!” Madison screamed. “She’s a psycho! Adrian’s been dead for years, but she kept playing house with you for five years–ahh!”
Lucas released her so abruptly she slid down the wall, coughing violently.
“Get out of my family’s house.” His voice was ice incarnate. “If I see you again, I’ll make you wish you were dead.”
Madison’s luggage was hurled into the driveway, scattered across wet pavement.
She glared at the closed mansion doors with pure hatred.
“Lucas Sinclair…”
Her face contorted with rage. She’d make Lucas regret treating her this way.
But she had no idea how swift and devastating Lucas’s retaliation would be.
