“Is this the mouth breather?” he asks her.

I didn’t think her eyes could get any bigger, but they somehow widened a little more. Did she say that to him about me?
“Mouth breather?” I growl.
“No,” she snaps out of it. “I-um. Fuck. Today has been fucking me up left and right,” she groans and the sound has me hardening. “This is my boss, Mr. Barnes.”
“Mr.Barnes?” I flinch. “No one calls me that, Baby Girl.”
“Oh, my god,” Riley chooses to step in. “Zan, why don’t we give Vy and Mr. Barnes some privacy?” she wraps her arm around his possessively to try and pull him away, but the fuck isn’t having it. His possessive eyes are on me. “Bye, Vy,”
“Bye, Riley,” Violetta says tightly and then looks over at her “boss”. “Mr. Thorne.”
“We’ll talk about this later,” he sneers, snapping his attention to her. “Get another phone.”
“Yes, sir,” she nods, and it all but kills me to see her let him talk to her like that. She’s alpha for fucks sake. How fucking dare he speak to her like that? A lowly fucking human.
“I got yours right here, Princess.” I dig the phone out of my pocket and hold it up. “You forgot it.”
His eyes snap back to me, and his pupils grow almost threateningly. Blood rushes up his neck, and he gets red with anger. I grin, loving that he knows she’s about to slip through his fingers. Humans have the most interesting reactions to a challenge. They’re no better than we are when it comes to our animal instincts, and hunters can get a little carried away when they’re being challenged by something far superior to them. I believe they call it little dick syndrome and this one has that written all over his stupid face.
“I thought you left it at the bar you went to. Since when do you go to bars? This guy looks like a thug,” he bites out angrily, forgetting himself and those around him. A thug? This guy is hilarious.
“You should go,” I turn my attention to my tiny mate, who didn’t like the insult he just threw at me. She looks up at him with that cold edge she had given me back at the bar. He sees that and understands that he doesn’t want to upset her. “Before this gets ugly.” Good girl. Show him his fucking place, Violetta. “Sorry about the drama, Riley,” she reminds him he’s here with someone. “You guys caught me off guard.”
“It’s okay, Violet.” Riley looks defeated as she looks down at her arm linked to Thorne’s. She caught a glimpse of the life that might await her at this idiot’s side. He didn’t give a fuck that she was there. He came at me like a jealous boyfriend. I don’t see it ending well for him tonight. I hope they fight about this in the car so I can listen to what his pitiful excuse is going to be. “We’ll see you later.”

He finally looks away and takes a deep breath. He doesn’t regard Violetta again and escorts his girlfriend back to his car. The two of us watch as he settles her in before getting into the car himself. I don’t take my eyes off him until he’s driving away.
“Look at that, huh? Are those His and Hers cars?” I growl at her. “The blue to your pinky pie car,

“I don’t have to explain myself to you, Alpha Barnes.” like fuck she doesn’t. “You’re trespassing. The treaty isn’t effective until after the alliance promenade,” she takes the phone out of my hand. “Thank you for bringing my phone. I think you should go. My idiot brother is here, and the last thing I want is to call in patrols.”
“I’ll go if you agree to meet me tonight.”
I can’t wait any longer. I need to have her within arm’s reach without eyes on us. I want to touch her. Inhale her mouthwatering scent. Give her the ugly fucking doll I found for her to replace the one I stole so she can have something from me. Say yes, Baby. Please. Say it.
“Fine,” she rolls her eyes. Good girl. “I know you went through my phone. It’s linked to my other devices. I know you texted yourself so you can have my number. Text me the details. I hope you told your little hacker buddy that all the information you saw is confidential. I could be fired if my boss knew you saw what you did.”
I’m elated with how quickly she agreed. I was prepared to threaten her-anything to get her alone.
“I didn’t have a hacker look at it. You left it on the table unlocked,” after seeing the picture of the two of them together. I couldn’t bring myself to look at more. “This is a Wolfe model. If you want real protection, you go to Lycan Tech, Baby. My Buddy’s genius mate owns it and she’s the greatest tech junkie in the world. Wolfe Tech could never. I didn’t see anything worth getting fired over. I’m going to text you, and you better answer.”
The coldness in her eyes melts away. She doesn’t say no or yes, but seems to have gotten the message. I can’t take my eyes off her. She’s hidden the ink with a pair of tightly fitted, low-ride baby blue jeans. She has a long-sleeve pink top tucked into them. It’s perfectly fitted to her figure. Her curves are on full display.
The way she’s looking at my bike with interest catches my attention. She’s a fan. Good, because I plan to put her on here whenever the chance presents itself. I can’t imagine anything more perfect than her arms around me while we ride through the city.
Her body jolts when I start the engine. I even heard her little gasp. I don’t want to go, but I’ve got shit to do and with her siblings here, there’s really nothing I can do to get into her place any time soon. I doubt Vince is going to be happy about her being mine.
The guys are working when I get back to my garage. I pull up the replicator I put on the blue Bentley. All of the sensors, cameras, and devices linked to it come up on my monitors. I have complete control of his car and the stupid fuck doesn’t even know it.
I rewind the footage to see that Riley is very upset about what happened.

“Did something happen between you and Violetta?” she breaks the silence shortly after they left.
“What?” he snaps his attention to her. “Of course not. I told you Violet is just my friend.”
“You didn’t act like she was just a friend back there, Zander,” she says lowly. He reaches out to tilt her head back.
“You saw the same thing I did,” he says. “That guy looks like a fucking gangbanger,”
“What do you care what he looks like? It’s her choice.”
“Baby,” he shakes his head.
“Don’t baby me, Zander. I don’t think I want to be with you if you get like this over someone she may or may not be dating. You got fucking possessive, Zan. What the fuck?”
“It’s not like that, Ry. I’ve been looking out for Violet for a long time. She’s-” he shakes his head.
“She’s what? Looking out for her and controlling her are two different things, Zander.”

“Violet’s dad used to fuck her up all the time. She has scars and shit that she’s tried to cover up with tattoos. She refuses to see a therapist, and she attracts men like him. Assholes who fuck her up and slap her around.
“It’s been a while since she’s gotten involved with anyone, but the last time, the police had to get involved. The sick fuck she was dating handcuffed me to a radiator. I’m not jealous. I just know the evil mother fuckers she likes to date.
“They all look like that. Big as fuck, covered in tats, and ready to beat the shit out of her if she steps out of line,” Riley covers her mouth when he pulls his sleeve up to show her the scars on his wrists. “I swear, Baby. It’s not what you think.”
“Have you tried to talk to her about that?” she buys it. Bitches man.
“Violet has this I can take care of myself mentality. I don’t know anything about her family, and I don’t want to know. I don’t want to hate them more than I already do. If I bring it up, she gets defensive, and we fight.
“As far as I can tell, I’m her only friend and I just don’t want her to be alone or make her feel like she doesn’t have anyone to go to when shit gets bad. I’m sorry if I made you feel it’s more than that. I know her, and that guy looks like all kinds of trouble.”
