Chapter 10
After quitting my job, I no longer had to spend extra hours studying computer science daily. It wasn’t even an area of study that I liked.
I majored in jewelry design in college. Now, I could finally pick up my sketchbook and pencils again, returning to the design work I truly loved.
One afternoon, I was sketching in the sunroom when Joseph paid me a sudden visit. He brought me a pearl and diamond tiara. I recognized that it was an antique piece from the last century the moment I saw it. I had seen it in a book before.
I loved the lovers‘ knot motif woven into the tiara. The pearls were full and luminous, arranged in a gradient according to their sizes, and seamlessly paired with diamonds. They looked just like teardrops on the tiara.
When he presented the pearl and diamond tiara to me, I told him I couldn’t accept it for nothing.
However, he said it was something he had prepared for his future fiancee. He was only handing it
over to its rightful owner.
That was when my unanswered question finally found its answer. I told Joseph how I had taken a liking to this tiara on my 18th birthday, only to find out someone had bought it out early with an exorbitant high bid. It turned out that person was him.
But how did he know I’d like this gift back then?
Joseph mentioned he had fainted on Beenzyla Island when he was 16 and was nearly swept away by the waves. I was the one who saved him with a life ring. The moment he opened his eyes, he had me etched in his memories. To him, I had looked like an angel from heaven.
Coincidentally, the professor who taught my courses in college was none other than Joseph’s mother. No wonder he knew my tastes so well.
I asked, “So, you decided to get into an arranged marriage with me just because I once saved your life? But I wasn’t thinking much when I pulled you out of the water…”
I didn’t even recognize him after meeting him again. It was honestly embarrassing.
However, Joseph shook his head after hearing what I said. “Do you believe in love at first sight?”
I couldn’t help but smile. Something like that had always felt like it came from a fairytale to me.
He smiled and said, “I don’t believe it either. But every time I see you, my heart says otherwise.”
His gaze was so tender as he looked at me. My heart couldn’t help but start racing.
Joseph told me how he had waited ten years for me. At first, he thought of backing off when he learned that I already had a boyfriend. But after knowing Lawrence was still holding on to his first love all these years, he realized Lawrence could never give me the kind of happiness I deserved
As such, he decided to try and pursue me.

Lawrence took out a diamond ring and went on one knee. The ring was placed at the tip of my finger, the size just right. “I just want a chance to love you openly. It’s fine if you don’t believe in me now. We have a lifetime to go, and I’ll prove it to you with my actions.” 1
My parents appeared out of nowhere, each holding a rose bouquet as they grinned. “Marry him! Marry him!”
I recalled the scene I saw at the romantic restaurant on my birthday. But now, I was the one
surrounded by flowers and cheers.
And this time, I wanted to be reckless and fall headfirst into the kind of love that could steal my breath away.
I slipped my finger into the ring. Joseph’s eyes shone with unshed tears as he slowly pushed the ring all the way in, keeping it snug on my finger.
Mom walked over and placed the pearl and diamond tiara on my head. Tears rolled down Dad’s cheeks as he wiped them away, but he didn’t forget to pull his phone out to record the moment.
