Chapter 11
My parents rushed me straight into registering our marriage without even having a wedding ceremony. It was as if they were afraid I’d change my mind and insisted on getting me officially registered.
I had also finally laid my first relationship with Lawrence bare with Joseph.
After hearing my past, Joseph caressed the pale red scar on my wrist, heartache written on his face as he leaned down to place a gentle kiss on it. “I’ll handle the surveillance footage, so you don’t have to worry about it. I’ll bring you to pick out your wedding dress once your wrist heals up completely.”
I nodded, watching as he happily threw himself into planning our engagement party.
In the past six years, I was always the one orbiting around Lawrence. Now that I had completely cut ties with him, I felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted off me.
I watched as Joseph personally picked out the venue, flew in flowers from across the world, handwrote the invitations, and hired a professional team to design my wedding look.
For once, I finally understood what it felt like to be truly loved. It wasn’t a one–sided thing, where one party constantly gave while the other only received.
I knew I had given everything I could to Lawrence in the past six years. Now, what I needed was to get into a real and healthy relationship. Or something more than that–as Joseph and I were already married now.
A couple of days later, Joseph informed me that he had already cleared things up with the
surveillance footage. Everyone in the company now knew that it was all a setup orchestrated by Ivy just to kick me out.
The day the surveillance footage was leaked, she was taken in by the police for defamation and slander. Joseph had also immediately removed her from her position as head of engineering.
Naturally, Joseph wouldn’t let Lawrence off for the slap he had given me either.
Joseph had filed a claim for damages in his capacity as my fiance. It didn’t matter how much we were asking for. His goal was to make Lawrence suffer and force him to publicly acknowledge his past relationship with me in front of the entire company.
Joseph’s eyes glinted as he recounted the entire incident. He then looked at me, unsure. “Would you feel uncomfortable from my actions?”

I grinned and replied, “It feels great to have someone backing me up for once!”
Joseph smiled, his gaze lighting up in joy.
