Chapter 8
In her desperation, Mom viciously pointed at me, unhesitatingly trying to drag me down with her.
Rhys stepped forward with a cold expression.
“I suggest you choose your words more carefully.”
During the six months I spent recovering in the hospital, they never once visited me.
So, they had no clue that the person who took care of me wasn’t some nurse hired by a wealthy heir–it was Rhys Valentine himself.
They never understood why Rhys would choose marriage to repay me for saving his life, when he could have simply given me money or a mansion.
The reason was simple: we had fallen in love during our time together.
The loan sharks frowned, looking at my mother with expressions that clearly said they thought she was talking nonsense.
‘What are you babbling about? I’m a faithful husband. I don’t mess around with affairs.”
‘We’re livestreaming this right now–if my wife hears what you just said, you’ll have me to answer to.”
The men behind him nodded in agreement.
‘Exactly. We don’t even know that woman. All we know is that Mallory Brooks owes us a hundred million dollars!”
‘Paying your debts is basic decency.”
If she pays us back right now, we’ll take our money and leave quietly. No trouble.”
Hearing this, Mom panicked and turned to Mallory.
“What’s going on? How did you end up borrowing a hundred million dollars?”
Mallory shook her head, sobbing.
I don’t know! Riley set me up!”
I set you up?” I laughed coldly, gesturing for my bodyguard to hand me a flash drive.
I plugged it into the display system.
“Here’s my investigation into how Mallory spent that money after taking out the loan.”
The footage showed her spending lavishly, bribing our household staff, and taking them on shopping sprees.
No wonder all our maids and housekeepers had suddenly become loyal to her during that time.
She thought she was spending money stolen from my identity.

Chapter 8
She never imagined that because I had switched the SSN Card for a fake one, she would end up suffering the consequences of her own actions.
Mallory stood up in disbelief.
“No, that’s impossible.”
“That card was definitely yours. How could this happen?”
“You must have done something!”
As she finished speaking, Mom, who had been protectively standing beside her, gave me a venomous look.
“Riley, do you still recognize me as your mother? Whatever happens today, you must help Mallory pay back this hundred million.”
I laughed derisively.
“You’ve gotten so caught up in your own drama that you’ve started believing it.”
“Mallory took out these loans herself. I don’t owe her anything, so why should I be obligated to help her?”
“And hell, I’m not even blood related to her! This foster kid already stole my mansion and my fiancé – does she really think she can drag me down and use my life to pay off her debts too?!”
