Chapter 3
“Violet, your mother’s been asking about you. Do you have time to visit soon?”
In recent years, my parents‘ health had deteriorated, so Calvin and I made a point of visiting them whenever possible. My company’s current projects were nearly complete, making this a perfect time to relax.
“Yes, Calvin and I will come together,” I promised.
But the night before our departure, Calvin called:
“Violet, I’m sorry, but there’s an emergency project at the company. I need to fly out immediately and can’t come with you.”
His voice was full of regret as he added, “I’ve already bought the specialty gifts for your parents. Don’t forget to bring them, and once this project is finished, I’ll definitely make time to visit them.”
This was our typical dynamic–work always came first.
I replied with an understanding “Okay” and left it at that.
After arriving at my parents‘ home, I accompanied them to a nearby scenic spot.
My mother suddenly pointed at a figure in the distance. “Violet, doesn’t that person look like Calvin?”
My heart sank as a terrible premonition washed over me.
Looking up, I saw him. Though it was just his back, I recognized the trench coat–identical to the one in the photo he’d sent me that
morning.
And leaning intimately against him was Naomi Winters. They were holding a phone, apparently taking selfies.
I suppressed my emotions and joked lightly, “Mom, even your eagle eyes can be wrong sometimes! He’s on a business trip–how
could he be here?”
“Mom, Dad, the midday sun is too hot. Let me take you to that exclusive club nearby to rest for a while.”
After settling my parents, I immediately sent Calvin my location, then called him:
“Calvin Blackwell, get your ass over here within three minutes!”
He sounded surprised. “Violet? What are you doing in this area?”
I laughed coldly. “Funny, I was about to ask you the same thing. Weren’t you supposed to be on a business trip?”
He stammered, trying to explain. “Naomi… she’s never been on a proper outing before. It’s her birthday, and she wanted to go
somewhere nice, so I… I brought her here.”
“I don’t want to hear excuses,” I cut him off. “Come to the location I sent you. NOW.”
He flatly refused. “Violet, I brought her out intentionally. I can’t just abandon her. Enjoy your time with your parents, and I’ll explain everything tonight.”
“Calvin, I’m saying this one more time: if you’re not here within three minutes, you’ll face the consequences!”

Before I could finish, he hung up.
When I tried calling back, his phone was off.
Just then, Naomi updated her Instagram:
[BOSS turned his phone completely off to celebrate my birthday! No more interruptions for us-]
The photo showed Calvin’s back view–the normally reserved man actually wearing Mickey Mouse ears to please her.
Shaking with rage, I opened my chat with Naomi.
[Tell Calvin to call me back within three minutes, or you’ll both face consequences you can’t handle!]
But my message went unanswered.
Three minutes passed, nothing happened.
Without further hesitation, I called my assistant:
“Cancel all sponsorship for Naomi Winters. Immediately!”
Then I screenshot Naomi’s post and shared it on my own Instagram:
[My husband lied about not visiting my parents so he could spend time with his female “sponsorship student.” He’s even blocked my calls. Is this acceptable?]
The post ignited a firestorm:
[Holy shit! Major drama! How could Mr. Blackwell, always so principled, be this dishonest?]
My Instagram exploded with comments and shares as friends bombarded Calvin with questions.
Soon, his calls began flooding in.
I watched his name flash on my screen, declined each call, and blocked him.
Early the next morning, Calvin’s parents dragged him to my door.
The moment they entered, his father kicked him in the leg and unleashed a torrent of abuse.
“You worthless piece of trash! You’ve completely disgraced our family!”
His mother pointed accusingly at him, too angry to speak, before slapping him hard across the face.
They continued berating and hitting him in front of me.
Once they’d calmed somewhat, his mother took my hand pleadingly.
“Violet dear, Calvin just has a good heart and made a foolish mistake. There’s nothing between him and that student. Please don’t be angry.”
His father kicked Calvin again. “Get on your knees and beg for forgiveness!”
Calvin dropped to his knees before me with a thud. He looked up, his eyes bloodshot.

Chapter 3
“Violet, I was wrong.”
“I swear I’ll never have any contact with her again. Please, forgive me this once.”
Looking at his disheveled appearance and the sincerity in his eyes, I found myself unwilling to completely discard our relationship.
I sighed and said firmly.
“Calvin Blackwell, just this once–but don’t you ever pull this crap again. This is your last chance, and I mean it.”
