Chapter 5
At this point in the story, I feel like crying.
The handsome guy lazily basked in his masculine energy, his voice casual and drawling:
“Kaden and that unfortunate Princess
Ann are bullying you. How about I help you kill them?”
“No.”
“Why not?” A cold smile flickered in his eyes. “Picture this: I hold a knife to Princess Ann’s throat, and then you can look down on her with your head held high and arrogantly ask, ‘Are you still

going to burn me? Speak up! Are you still going to burn me?‘ Then Princess Ann will be sobbing and sniveling, kowtowing to you saying, ‘I won’t burn you anymore, I won’t! I’m despicable, I’m despicable!‘ Wouldn’t that make you incredibly happy?”
Damn, that scenario is actually pretty tempting!
But after thinking it over, I still shook my
head:
“Though I’d definitely like to show off a bit, I still don’t like killing people. Every time there’s killing and war, I don’t get to eat, and those common people don’t get
to eat either.”

“Oh. What about Kaden then? Do you like him?”

I asked myself the same question–do I still like him?

That day, Princess Ann was traumatized.
She had been frail and sickly since childhood, and this time she fell particularly ill. She had her maid write a farewell letter to Kaden:
“Your Majesty, since that day, my body has been in shock and tremendous pain. I fear my days are numbered. I hope Your Majesty will focus on state affairs first and not worry about me.”

He even neglected the war against the Land of the River, allowing Rex to defeat him easily.
After losing the battle, according to custom, he had to offer treasures and
beauties as tribute.
Originally, the Land of the River
demanded Kaden’s most beloved Princess
Ann as the beauty,
but Kaden had his envoys negotiate with

the Land of the River, saying, “We have the world’s most beautiful woman,
Ginger. We’re willing to offer her in place of Princess Ann.”
And just like that, I was sent away.
The day I left the Land of the Pines, I felt a sharp pain in my chest and decided I would never like Kaden again.
I snapped back to reality and looked at the handsome guy:
“Kaden crossed my bottom line. I don’t like him anymore! I prefer you—I think you’re very handsome.”
He froze, his ears turning red:

“Wh-what kind of nonsense are you talking about… So noisy, let His Majesty have some peace and quiet.”
“‘His Majesty?‘ So you’re Rex! That makes things easy then. Come on, let’s go make love and complete today’s femme fatale mission.”
“Ginger, you’re different from all the
women I’ve met before.”
I shyly twirled my hair: “Oh stop it! How am I different?”
He said: “They all had normal brains.”
