Chapter 251
He frowned at the sight of Cynthia’s jeans, torn with ragged holes.
“Did you do this?”
Celia snapped, “Yeah, I did. So what? Are you going to take the side of that brat?”
Her words had barely left her mouth when Celestine picked up the long wooden ruler from the lesson plan and, bending down, caught hold of Celia’s small hand and brought it down hard.
Celia froze, stunned by the blow.
It took a moment for the pain to register.
She bit her lip, holding back tears. “You hit me? You’re really going to hit me for that
worthless kid?”
Smack! The ruler came down again.
Celestine’s gaze was icy as she held the ruler and Celia’s hand. “Apologize to Cynthia.”
“I won’t! No way! I will never apologize to that brat! If you’ve got the guts, go ahead and beat me to death!” Celia’s neck stiffened, her face twisted in anger.
Celestine looked at her, disappointment flickering in her eyes.
When her daughter was born, she was frail and small, coddled and adored as she grew up. All these years, she could hardly bear to scold her, let alone raise a hand.
She never imagined her daughter would grow up to be this defiant, this wild.
“Celia, when you make a mistake, there are consequences. Did I never teach you to be polite? Did I never teach you to treat people kindly?”
Celia’s tears trembled at the edges of her eyes, but she stubbornly refused to cry or
admit fault.
Cynthia gently tugged at Célestine’s sleeve. “Miss Angel, please don’t be mad. I fell by myself–it wasn’t her fault. I’m okay, really.”
Celestine looked down at the little one, obviously hurting but still trying to protect Celia. A strange ache twisted in her chest.
“Brat! Did I say you could talk? I’m telling you, stay out of my sight from now on! If ever see you again, I’ll hit you every time!”
Whap! Whap! Whap!
Three more blows fell, and Celia’s shrill protests died away.
She stared at Celestine, terrified, her tears finally spilling over.
“If you dare cry, I’ll keep going,” Celestine said coldly.
Celia clamped her mouth shut, tears pooling in her eyes. She threw her head back to keep them from falling.
After a moment, she frantically wiped her cheeks, then turned to the teacher. “She’s not my mom! My real mom is kind and beautiful and would never hit me! I want my dad! I don’t want her!”
When Celestine first arrived, Celia had been secretly pleased. But then, without asking questions, she started hitting her!
This time, Celia was truly furious.
If her mom didn’t beat her a hundred times with that ruler, she swore she’d never forgive her. Not in this life, not in the next!
The incident had happened so suddenly that the teacher was left speechless.
Celestine’s blows had been swift and hard. Angry red welts were already rising on Celia’s little hand.
The teacher was puzzled–on Celia’s emergency contact form, only her father’s number was listed. The person she’d just spoken to had been a man. How could her mother be here?
She set aside her questions and tried to intervene. “Celia’s mother-”
“She’s not my mother!” Celia shouted, correcting her angrily. “From now on, she can be that brat’s mom! Not mine!”
Whap! Whap!
Two more blows landed. Celia’s tears were swept away by pain..
“Fine, Celia. You don’t have to call me your mom. But if I ever hear you call Cynthia that word again, you’ll get more than a sore hand.”
Celestine’s words were calm but steely, her eyes glinting cold.
Celia felt a jolt of fear run down to her toes. She didn’t dare make a sound.
Her mom was a monster! She would never forgive her, not in this life, not in the

next!
The teacher couldn’t stop any of it.
Suddenly, frantic voices echoed in from outside the office.
“Celia! Are you alright?”
Joanna and Chester hurried in, one after the other.
Celia instantly found her courage.
She tore free from Celestine’s grip and ran straight into Joanna’s arms, bursting into loud sobs. “Miss Joanna, they’re all bullying me! Will you be my mom
instead?”
