Chapter 4: Revealing the Truth
Selene’s POV
It seems like I never really understood what kind of person Chloe Parker was. Her words made me extremely uncomfortable.
Why on earth did I ever consider her a friend?
“Heh.”
I unconsciously let out a mocking sound, and the atmosphere immediately turned cold. It was pointless to reveal the events that happened during the war now. My
wolf was gone, and no one would believe
I scoffed and said, “Chloe Parker, are you feeling smug right now?”
“You’ve taken everything from me. You must be laughing in your dreams, yet you’re still putting on this act. Aren’t you tired?”
Chloe Parker’s face froze for a moment, but after a short pause, she regained her look of grievance, choking out, “Selene, what do you mean? You really misunderstood me. I didn’t mean to…”
Her face turned pale, and she put on a sorrowful, hurt expression, wiping away
her tears in self-blame as she said, “It’s all
my
fault. I was abused when I was young, and my health is weak. That’s why I sometimes cause trouble for everyone. I’m just a burden. I’m sorry, I’ll leave.”
She pretended to walk away, but Eleanor, who had shown a look of concern,
stopped her.
“Chloe, no! My darling, this is your home.
You don’t need to leave.’
وو
Chloe Parker lowered her eyes, hiding her emotions, and continued to explain, “Eleanor, please let me go. If I stay here, Selene will be unhappy.”
Eleanor hugged her, patting her back with
tenderness, and when she looked at me, her gaze had a hint of reproach.
This was once the mother who loved me the most. Now, she was holding her biological child, completely ignoring my feelings. I could barely breathe, my nose stung with the urge to cry, but I tried my best to hold back the tears. I couldn’t show my weakness, even though she used to be the person I loved most.
Chloe Parker, being held by Eleanor Brooks, with her red-rimmed eyes, still managed to glance toward Jaxon Lancaster.
“Jaxon, I’m sorry…”

Seeing her so upset and still concerned about him, Jaxon Lancaster felt a surge of pity.
Jaxon looked at me, who was coldly watching, and reproached, “Selene, being sick is beyond control. You’re being too cold-hearted.”
Even Eleanor Brooks joined in with an explanation, “Selene, can you be a bit kinder? You two are friends, right? The marking ceremony can be held at any time, it doesn’t have to be today.”
The mother who raised me, and the boyfriend I had been with for years.
Now, they were both standing on Chloe
Parker’s side, reproaching me from their high ground.
It was as if I had ruined the marking ceremony, yet it felt like I had committed some unforgivable crime.
How ironic!
Chloe Parker was still sobbing quietly, and neither Eleanor Brooks nor Jaxon
Lancaster could hear what I said.
“Poor health? How ridiculous!”
I sneered and walked into the house, taking out a thick medical report from a drawer in the living room, slamming it in front of them. After the dress incident, I
couldn’t believe it, so I went to the werewolf hospital and gathered Chloe’s medical reports. Her health was even better than mine.
“This is her medical report. You can take a good look!”
Eleanor Brooks was momentarily stunned, perhaps thinking that my actions of throwing things were impolite. Her face turned cold, but she still picked up the report and began reading it.
Jaxon Lancaster also glanced down at it.
The further they read, the stranger their expressions became.
