“Find her dirty?”
Kieran suddenly stood up and walked over to Camden.
This seemed to be the first time today he’d shown such emotional volatility.
The first time this man of few words had said so much.
“I don’t know why you’d talk about your own girlfriend like that.”
“And I don’t agree that a girl who’s had a boyfriend or sexual experience is dirty.”
He reached out and grabbed Camden’s shirt front.
With just a slight effort, he slammed him hard against the wall.
“Try saying that about her one more time.”
His tone was still calm, but those unfathomable eyes beneath the shadow were full of malice.
Camden didn’t struggle, just looked at his twin brother in front of him.
Complex emotions gradually surged in his eyes.
It was a mixture of resentment from being suppressed by his blood brother for over twenty years.
“Kieran, you deliberately set me up.”
“That night you did it on purpose, deliberately goading me into that bet with you. You liked her, you wanted to steal
her from me…”
“If you were genuine about her, then no one could steal her away.”
“So I’m saying this for the last time, Camden.”
“You gave me the opportunity. You’re the one who delivered her into my hands.”
Camden suddenly burst into laughter: “So what?”
“You think she’ll willingly be with you?”
“She’s poor, from a bad background, but she’s stubborn as hell deep down, and she’s got this ridiculous sense of pride.”
Chapter
“If she finds out you pretended to be me to play with her, what do you think she’ll do?”
“She’ll hate me to death, but she’ll hate you just as much…”
“So what.”
“If I hadn’t accepted your bet that night, hadn’t taken her away.”
“Would you have lost her to a third person?”
“I didn’t…”
“You would have!”
Kieran rarely spoke so harshly.
“Others might not know, but you know damn well.”
“You were done playing with her, you were getting tired of her.”
“There was some younger, prettier girl outside waiting for you to spend the night with.”
“Camden, tell me yourself–isn’t that right!”
Camden clenched his jaw tightly, breathing heavily.
But he couldn’t utter a single word in defense.
Kieran suddenly let go, looking down at his twin brother.
“You should worry about yourself first, how you’re gonna get through this mess.”
“Without a convincing explanation for what happened in Boston, you’ll never be able to stay in the country again.”
“That was you too?”
Camden finally realized, suddenly understanding.
How convenient that right after Kieran returned to the country, several of the subsidiaries under his management had problems.
He really was thorough and strategic.
For Harper, for those nights of pleasure.
Fighting with his own brother, not even caring about the family’s interests.
“So what if it was me.”
“If you had even a bit of skill and ability, you wouldn’t be constantly held back by others.”
Kieran casually lit a cigarette.
Half a cigarette later, he’d already returned to his usual unruffled state.
“Are you going to come clean with her, or should I?”
“Why?”
Camden’s eyes were bloodshot: “Why do you always have to be better than me at everything since we were kids?”
“You were doing fine abroad, why did you suddenly come back?”
“So many women like you, and you’ve got that top socialite fiancée.”
“Why do you have to fight me for Harper?”
Kieran lowered his eyes and stubbed out his cigarette.
“Being better than you since childhood is just a matter of ability.”
“As for fighting you for her?”
Kieran looked at him coldly, as if looking at insignificant trash on the roadside.
“Do you think anything you possess could catch my eye?”
“Then what about Harper…”
Just as Kieran was about to answer, the study door was suddenly pushed open hard.
