Chapter 6
Jade came over to take care of me after hearing about our divorce drama.
At first, she was furious on my behalf, wanting to expose Mason and his pregnant girlfriend for what they’d done.
But once I told her about Mason’s secret, her anger cooled considerably.
Meanwhile, after signing the divorce papers, Mason quickly bought another villa to live with his pregnant
girlfriend.
Though our divorce wouldn’t be final for at least another month, he clearly couldn’t wait.
After recovering my strength, I went to the hospital to have my IUD removed.
What I’d done for Mason had been foolish and unhealthy. I wasn’t about to keep paying that price for him.
The doctor asked, “Planning to have children soon?”
I gave a bitter smile but said nothing.
The procedure went smoothly, though I could still feel fine, sharp pains rippling through me.
My forehead beaded with cold sweat; it felt like having a piece of my heart forcibly extracted.
By coincidence, as I was leaving the gynecology department, I spotted Mason escorting his pregnant girlfriend into
the hospital for a prenatal checkup.
Though I wanted nothing more than to go home and rest, curiosity got the better of me, and I quietly followed them.
Inside the examination room, the doctor was explaining the pregnant woman’s condition.
“The fetus is very healthy. And you are…?”
The doctor seemed somewhat surprised.
“I’m the baby’s father,” Mason replied, his tone unmistakably proud.
The doctor nodded in understanding. “I see! You’re the father. I thought it might be the person who usually accompanies her to checkups.”
At these words, the pregnant woman’s face froze, though she said nothing.
After the examination, Mason helped her toward the door, and I quickly hid behind a nearby pillar.
“Emma, didn’t you say you had no relatives in this city? Who’s been coming with you to these appointments?”

Chapter 6
Mason’s voice carried a note of suspicion.
I peeked around the column and could clearly see the panic flashing across Emma’s face.
A moment later, Mason’s suspicion vanished as his gaze suddenly sharpened.
Because he had spotted me.
“Victoria, what are you doing here?”
His voice dripped with contempt when he saw me.
“What, after I told you about your inability to have children, you came to get treatment?”
His words were cruel, but they didn’t affect me.
Despite my weakness, I mustered my strength to fire back.
“Treatment? Please. I came specifically to witness your fake fatherhood moment.”
With the pregnant woman nearby, Mason couldn’t explode like he wanted to, but he still muttered under his breath.
“Show some respect.”
I threw up my hands in mock innocence.
“I am being respectful! Didn’t the doctor just say someone else has been accompanying her to every checkup? Why don’t you ask who that person is?”
Emma looked at me, her face filled with panic, her mouth opening and closing without making a sound.
This only confirmed my suspicions.
I deliberately taunted her: “Hey, I’m wishing you guys all the best. Shouldn’t you be thanking me?”
Emma avoided my gaze, frantically tugging at Mason’s arm, trying to pull him away.
“Honey, let’s go. Don’t bother with this psycho.”
But Mason seemed oblivious to her signals, holding her arm and focusing solely on defending her honor.
“Don’t worry, Emma. I’m here. No one gets to slander you.”
He took a few intimidating steps toward me, looming over me.
“Apologize to Emma. Now.”
I scoffed. “Really? You think you still have any control over me?”

“This is a hospital. Are you planning to get physical again?”
I glanced sideways at Emma, who was reaching for Mason’s sleeve but hesitating, too afraid to actually grab it.
Clearly, someone with a guilty conscience.
Though I had to admit, she’d chosen her mark well.
After all, Mason was the person who wanted his own child more than ANYONE ELSE in the world.
