I stood alone outside. Because of the fall, my carefully styled hair was a mess.
The bottom of my dress was stained with dirt, and the wound on my leg had hardened into an ugly scab.
Jake had already left, leaving me limping, picking up the purse he’d thrown out.
Around me, curious and somewhat mocking glances made me uncomfortable.

The alcohol stung my leg painfully as I tried to endure it.
Suddenly, messages appeared before my eyes:
“LOL, boyfriend’s pride is showing again. He’s actually around the corner, couldn’t bear to leave. He’s just waiting for her to apologize so he can take her to see the fireworks he prepared.”
“Totally! He loves her so much. For this anniversary, he bought an expensive bracelet to give her, but she was
late, so of course he’s upset.”
