Chapter 15 Just Do It
The news of Jayvon’s arrival snapped everyone back. Clayton shot a glare at me and then said to the butler, “Let him in!”
Then, he walked out of the living room while reminding me, “Brianna, follow up!”
I had a hangover last night, and my head was still hurting a bit. Now, I even had to deal with these trivial matters, which made me feel so complicated in my heart. But still, I followed Clayton up.
Jayvon came with two big bags of gifts for Clayton, Alisa, and Maleah. After a few pleasantries with them, Jayvon fi- nally came to my front.
“Bree, I’m sorry for what
Ppened yesterday. It was my bad. I shouldn’t have done that to you.”
With that, he solemnly placed a beautifully packaged gift box in my hand and said affectionately, “I’ve truly reflected on myself. Even if it’s just a game, and even if Jaslene is like my family, I still shouldn’t be too close to her. I swear to you, I will never be like that again.
“Bree, please forgive me and come back to me.”
Jayvon wanted to hug me, but I stepped back directly and dropped the gift box he gave me. A pair of sapphire ear- rings fell out, which looked very expensive.
Though receiving a gift, I felt no joy.
I told Jayvon coldly, “This is Jaslene’s favorite color, not mine.”
His expression changed instantly, and he felt a bit embarrassed. “Sorry, Bree, I didn’t know…”
“We’ve been in a relationship for almost five years, yet you still don’t know what my favorite color is. But you know
well what Jaslene likes and doesn’t like to eat.”

What Jayvon had said just now only made me feel it was ironic. I sneered coldly and continued, “Jayvon, just this one ask thing is enough for me to break up with you. Our engagement must be cancelled. If you don’t agree today, I’ll go you another day.
“I’m tired. Don’t pester me.”
With that, I turned and went back to my room.
But Clayton, upon hearing this, panicked, murmuring with a worried look, “What? Cancel the engagement? Brianna wanna cancel the engagement?”
He immediately grabbed Jayvon’s hand, asking anxiously, “Jayvon, don’t listen to her! We’ve never thought about canceling your engagement!”

Jayvon also had a worried look on his face. “I know, Clayton. But Bree doesn’t wanna forgive me.”
“It’s not a problem! Wait here. I’ll talk to her!”

With that, Clayton chased up, snapping angrily behind me, “Brianna, get down here! Cancel the engagement? Why didn’t you discuss it with us before making that decision?”
Discuss with them? They just wanted to sell me to the Sawyer family.
If I had told Clayton about it ahead, the engagement would never have been able to be cancelled.
I was not an idiot.
“I have a say in my own engagement. Why do I have to discuss it with you? Stop dreaming about using me to cling to wealth. I’ve already gone to the Sawyer’s villa and told them about it today.”
After a shot pas
I added seriously, “There’s no future between me and Jayvon!”
“Nonsense! Do you know how valuable the chance of engaging with the Sawyer family is? This might be our only chance to get a connection with the Bernard family!” Clayton snapped.
His face reddened with anger as he ordered me, “I will never agree to that! The engagement continues, and you should cool yourself down. We’ll find a day to go and apologize to the Sawyer family!”
After saying that, he went down to talk to Jayvon, afraid that he would lose his wealthy future son–in–law.
In the end, Clayton just wanted to use me to get a bright future for Maleah, letting her marry into the Bernard family.
I went back to my room and shut the door. The more I thought about it, the angrier I was. I couldn’t just let it be and do nothing. But what else could I do to cancel the engagement?
Suddenly, a brilliant idea came to my mind. I could just do it directly, disregarding anyone else’s opinion.
Immediately, I announced on my Instagram that Jayvon and I had cancelled our engagement.
