Chapter 17 Wait at the Bar
I directly shut the door, causing Maleah to hit her head on it.
Maleah cried in pain, “Ouch… Brianna, just wait! You don’t wanna marry? Well, unfortunately, Dad and Jayvon had already reached an agreement. You will marry Jayvon even if you don’t want to!”
Meanwhile, because of the hit just now, Maleah’s nose began to bleed.
She glared at my door as if she could see me through it, and then she covered her nose and ran downstairs.
I didn’t take Maleah’s provocation seriously. What I was worried about more was the cancellation of the engagement.
Clayton didn’t want it to be cancelled. Besides, although Pablo didn’t state his opinion, I could still tell that he also didn’t want it to be cancelled. I was afraid that the chance of my winning was very slim.
But I wouldn’t be with J
again anyway, so I had to think of a way to make them agree to cancel the engagement.
I thought for a long time but still couldn’t come up with any ideas. So, I called Kailee again and told her everything.
After listening, Kailee burst out in anger and cursed, “What is wrong with Clayton? Is it because he’s a scumbag that he chose to help a scumbag? And he still wanted you to marry that bastard?
“Bree, you should just find a man and get the marriage certificate with him tomorrow! And they’ll have no way to force you anymore! You can divorce at any time anyway!”
“What are you talking about? Be serious, okay?” I felt a bit speechless.
Although it was indeed a feasible plan, it was still a bit outrageous.
I was kind of a traditional woman and would not casually form a family with a man on a whim. I didn’t care much about my own reputation, though. But what about the other party’s reputation?
“Then what else can you do? Bree, I’m being serious. It’s a feasible plan!”
Kailee analyzed it and told me, “Your engagement with Jayvon is in a few days. If you don’t hurry up, it will be too late! But if you get the marriage certificate with another man first, they can’t manipulate you then!”
“But I…”
“Come on, don’t hesitate, okay? That’s how you’re gonna do it! If you think it’s troublesome to get a divorce, then find a good–looking man to marry. Maybe someday, you’ll find that’s the right one for you!”
Kailee directly made the decision for me and began to look for a good man for me.
I really had no other choice now. After being torn for a short while, I joined Kailee.

Kailee was right. What if I were lucky enough to find the right one for myself?
Any man was better than Jayvon anyway!
Kailee had sent me a lot of pictures of different men, but I wasn’t satisfied with any of them. Somehow, Humberto’s face kept popping up in my mind.
These men’s pictures couldn’t arouse a single bit of my interest now. If I had to find another man, Humberto would be a good choice.
In my mind, he was a gigolo, so he needed money. Besides, earlier today, he also mentioned that he wanted me to be responsible for him. So, maybe I could pay him to get a marriage certificate with me.
I immediately told Kailee about this idea.
Kailee liked handsome guys, and Humberto was handsome, so she agreed immediately.

But when she heard Humberto’s name, she hesitated for a moment, seemingly pondering something.
But I didn’t notice it. Anyway, this was a deal involving a monetary transaction. So, I consulted a lawyer to confirm whether the prenuptial agreement was valid. After getting a positive answer, I sent a message to Humberto to meet me at the bar.
Humberto replied briefly, “Okay. But I’ll be a bit late. Got something else.”
“Okay. I’ll wait for you at the bar.”
I somehow became a bit thrilled. Afraid that I might change my mind suddenly, I drove to Nocturne Bar immediately.
I went to a booth and ordered a drink, wanting to boost my courage. But just as I took a sip, I sensed two creepy gazes from behind me.
Then, a man with a big belly walked over and sat beside me. With a creepy smile, he stared at me up and down and said, “Hey, sweetheart. Alone?”
