Chapter 25 I Only Love You
“Well, Brianna, you weren’t like this before! Why are you so unreasonable now?”
Jayvon was furious.
I shrugged and said, “You weren’t like this before either.”
Jayvon snapped, “I told you, Jaslene and I are just cousins!”
“Do you believe what you said?” I retorted.
Jayvon was silent for a while. I already had an answer, so I was not surprised by his reaction.
I only said, “No need to explain anything. I just want to break off our engagement. Jayvon, if you don’t want to be embarrassed on our engagement day, you’d better call it off now. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude!”
I hung up quickly, then focused on my skincare, not paying any more attention to Jayvon’s calls.
Seeing that I didn’t answer the calls, he turned to text me.
“Bree, babe, it was my fault just now. I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that. I won’t ask you to apologize to Jaslene anymore. I was wrong about you. Please forgive me, okay?”
“Think about our engagement again. After all, we have been together for so many years. Can you really break up with me easily? Bree, I only love you, and I’ve never loved anyone else!”
I glanced at them, then threw my phone aside.
His apology sounded so arrogant and insincere. How did I fall for Jayvon back then? I started to doubt myself.
Humberto was much more considerate and polite than Jayvon.
Thinking of this, I suddenly felt a bit sad. The past memories were flooding back.
Maybe Jayvon really loved me before, but now it was all over.
He changed. Maybe he was in love with two women at the same time from the start.
My phone buzzed on the bed. I thought it was Jayvon, but when I checked the phone, I found it was my best frien Kailee calling.
I answered it and heard a cheerful voice on the phone. “Bree! How’s the marriage planning going? Did that handsom guy agree? But you must take him to the hospital for a check–up. If you get sick from him, it would be awful…”
“Stop! Stop!”
Before Kailee could go on, I quickly cut her off, explaining Humberto’s identity.

Hearing this, Kailee raised her eyebrows. She was even more excited. “He’s not an escort? I noticed it! He looks de- cent. How could he be an escort? Bree, you’re so lucky. You slept with such a handsome guy! Get married to him quickly!”
“You noticed it? Why didn’t you tell me?”
If I had known it earlier, I wouldn’t be so embarrassed.
Kailee just laughed,
- the one who slept with him. How would I know his real identity?
“Alright, since he’s right for you, just get married. Didn’t you say he agreed? Just go get the marriage certificate. By “Alright, since he’s right for the way, when will you come to the studio? We should release the spring collection soon.”

I was busy with the breakup, so I was frustrated these days. I almost forgot about my work.
Kailee and I ran a design studio called “Mist Studio” in the East District. It specialized in classic style designs, mainly in jewelry and clothes.
Kailee was in charge of operations, and I was the designer. Over the past few years, we actually built a solid reputa- tion, but no one knew it was our business.
“I’ll come in a couple of days. I’m feeling uninspired lately, but I definitely won’t delay the new collection.”
I felt guilty. I left all the work in the studio to Kailee these days.
