“When you went to get the marriage certificate, one of our college classmates spotted you. Someone came asking me about it. There’s a class reunion today, and Aurelia might hear some rumors. You need to come with me and set things straight–don’t let her find out we’re married.”
Winter suddenly remembered that she had indeed bumped into a college classmate outside the register office.
In her previous life, she couldn’t resist bragging about it, and by the next day, news of their marriage had spread like wildfire, causing Aurelia to throw a massive tantrum.
This time, she hadn’t bragged or told anyone why she was there, yet she was still misunderstood.
Winter also wanted to clear things up, so she agreed.
The car sped toward the club. Dominic led her to the private room’s entrance and emphasized once
more:
“When you go in, just tell everyone you were at the register office delivering your cousin’s passport. Don’t say anything else, or you’ll face the consequences.”
Seeing the warning in his eyes, Winter nodded silently.
“Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything clearly. No one will think we got married.”
After all, he truly hadn’t married her. She would simply tell the truth.
Only then did Dominic relax, lifting his chin slightly to indicate she should enter alone.
Watching him turn and head downstairs, Winter let out a small sigh of relief and pushed open the door.
Hearing the noise, everyone in the room turned around. Seeing her, they all crowded around.
“Winter! How’d you find time for a class reunion? Got some big news to share? We’ve heard the buzz–someone spotted you at the register office! They even saw Dominic’s name on the marriage registry. Did you two tie the knot? Are you here to hand out invitations?”
Faced with these gossipy stares, Winter shook her head and repeated what Dominic had just told

her, debunking the rumor.
But her former classmates didn’t buy it, their eyes widening in disbelief.
“Delivering your cousin’s passport? What kind of lame excuse is that? Stop playing us! Everyone knows you’ve been crushing on Dominic for years! You’ve been chasing him like crazy–bringing him breakfast at his dorm every morning, getting a concussion from blocking a basketball for him,
even giving up your education opportunity at ENSAD…”
Hearing them mention these things, Winter became a bit dazed. She felt as if she were still 29, with her student days a distant past.
But now she was only 22, just half a year out of college, with her future wide open.

Since heaven had given her a second chance, she didn’t want to get entangled with Dominic
anymore.
So she took out the affidavit of single status she’d brought along and showed everyone.
Seeing this, everyone finally believed she was single, marveling at the coincidence.
“So you really were just delivering a passport! Then who did Dominic marry that day? Did you see?”
“No, I didn’t. I have no idea.”
Hearing this response, the group was disappointed but didn’t give up discussing.
“If it wasn’t Winter, could it be Aurelia? But Aurelia comes from a poor family–alcoholic father, bedridden mother. The Thorne family always cares about equal social status. Would they allow her to marry in?”
“Why not? You all know how much Dominic adores Aurelia! Three years ago, he accepted family punishment for her sake, willing to break with his family to be with her, forcing them to stop interfering. It’s just a marriage–even if the family disagrees, with his all–powerful position in the city now, getting married is a piece of cake. He can do it first and tell them after. By then, it’s too late for them to object!”
“No, no. Dominic loves Aurelia so much–if they were getting married, there’d definitely be a grand proposal ceremony. With nothing like that, how could they just get a certificate? It doesn’t fit his style. Someone must have seen wrong that day. Maybe it was just someone with the same name!”
Everyone seemed to agree with this theory. Just then, the door opened again.

Dominic walked in holding Aurelia’s hand. Aurelia looked at everyone in confusion.
“Proposal? What proposal?”
Seeming to realize something, her heart skipped slightly, and she looked at Dominic with a blush.
“Dominic, are you… planning to propose to me soon?”
The word “no” had already reached Dominic’s lips, but seeing her expectant face, he swallowed it
back.
He knew she had been waiting for his proposal, but he had already gotten the certificate with Winter and could never marry Aurelia now.
He wanted her to live, but he couldn’t bear to see her disappointed.
Influenced by multiple factors, he glanced at Winter, then nodded.
“Yes, Aurelia. I do plan to propose to you.”
