Aurelia finally escaped.
In that private hospital, under Dominic’s orders, Aurelia was subjected to constant blood withdrawal and transfusions without a regular sleep schedule.
They even customized a blood extraction machine that activated when her blood volume reached a
certain level.
She wasn’t allowed to eat, surviving only on IV fluids. She felt she was going mad and that Dominic had lost his mind, torturing her this way because of Winter.
So during a shift change, she tore out her IV lines and fled, escaping her prison.
But in her panic, she failed to notice a black Maybach not far from the hospital. Its owner watched the woman frantically running away and made a phone call.
Chase was at a bar. The last time Aurelia had tricked him, he had believed they were genuinely reconciling. He’d gone to her joyfully, only to be ambushed by five men she’d hired, who beat him
for three days and nights. When he emerged, there wasn’t an uninjured spot on his body.
“Chase, you want to be with me?” Chase’s head was pinned to the ground by those men as Aurelia approached with a cold smile. Her seven–centimeter stiletto heel pressed into his palm.
“You’re not worthy!”
Those light words killed his genuine feelings.
“Keep it discreet. Don’t kill her.”
Since then, he couldn’t remain in LA City and had moved to NY City, working as a bartender. Receiving Dominic’s call, he was clearly surprised.
“What do you want?” His tone was unfriendly; he didn’t want any more entanglements with these insane people.
There was a long silence on the other end, so long that Chase thought it was a wrong number. He was about to hang up after cursing when Dominic’s hoarse voice came through:

“Do you want revenge?”
Just as Aurélia turned a corner, hoping to ask a passerby for help, someone who seemed to have been waiting for her enthusiastically invited her into a car.
Aurelia had no time to think before being forcibly pulled inside. She finally realized something was wrong, but days of torture had left her without an ounce of strength.
Aurelia was awakened by movement on her body. Opening her eyes, she was shocked to find hersel in a hotel room, her mouth sealed with tape, and the one–eyed Chase moving on top of her.
Seeing Aurelia’s terrified gaze, Chase breathed heavily, glaring at her fiercely. “What? Don’t recognize your old flame? Why stare at my eye? This is your handiwork, isn’t it?”
Those men had mocked him for daring to pursue someone from the Thorne family and forcibly gouged out one of his eyes. Now, the instigator of his suffering looked at him with horror at her own cruelty.
Chase laughed coldly, about to continue, when Aurelia suddenly fought back desperately. Her survival instinct kicked in, and she grabbed something from the bedside table without looking, smashing it hard against his head.
Chase fell to the ground in pain. Aurelia, fighting her discomfort, tried to dress and rush out, but the
nearly manic Chase grabbed her.
“No… don’t go!” Chase growled. “Didn’t you promise we’d be together forever?”
He strangely repeated the vows Aurelia had once made to him. “Do you know how miserable I’ve
been?”
“You, Dominic Thorne–you both despise me and want me dead. But you know what, Aurelia? Do
you think Dominic still loves you? It wasn’t my idea to find you. He brought me here. Don’t you
understand?”
Aurelia was furious. She tried to process Chase’s words. What did he mean Dominic brought him
here? Did Dominic hate her that much?
But she also knew that someone like Chase couldn’t have found her on his own, and Dominic was no longer the same person.
The previous Dominic wouldn’t have tried to run her over with his car or taken her to a private hospital for torture.

Seeing her calm down, Chase removed the tape from her mouth.
“This wasn’t my intention. I always loved you. How could I hurt you?”
“You don’t love him either, right? All you ever wanted was the status of Mrs. Thorne and his assets, isn’t that true?”
Chase ignored the disgust in Aurelia’s eyes and continued to coax her.
“I won’t hurt you, Aurelia. I love you most.”
“I have a plan.”
