“I know where Dominic is. If we kidnap him, we can get a ransom. Then we can live together.”
“Look at you,” Chase gently wiped the sweat from her forehead. “You haven’t been well either, right? All of this is Dominic’s fault. Why should he go unpunished?”
Aurelia shut her eyes, trembling. He was right–all her suffering was because of Dominic. Why was she the only one being hurt?
Chase left the hotel and found Dominic waiting in a café. He reported that the task was complete.
“Where’s the recording?” Dominic asked.
Chase handed him the memory card. As Dominic was about to check it, Chase stopped his hand.
“What?” Dominic looked at him with disgust. Chase didn’t care.
“Such private content–shouldn’t you view it somewhere more discreet?”
Dominic snorted. “You think you can just get in my car whenever you want?”
Chase smiled. “I won’t go in. I just hope Mr. Thorne can verify the goods quickly and pay me.”
Dominic stared at him for a moment, then turned toward his Maybach.
But as soon as he reached the shadows, Aurelia, who had been hiding there, grabbed him. He
immediately tried to push her away, but Chase hit him hard from behind with a brick.
When Dominic regained consciousness, he found himself in an abandoned garage with a rag stuffed
in his mouth. The two hadn’t realized he was awake.
“We can’t call the Thorne family. If they trace us here, we’re finished…” That was Aurelia’s voice.
“Then who do we call?” Chase sounded impatient. “Is there anyone else who would save him?”
Aurelia thought for a moment and said, “Let’s call Winter. I know she’s hooked up with some CEO in France. She must have money now. She loves Dominic so much, she wouldn’t let him die, right?”
Chase agreed. They found Winter’s number in Dominic’s contacts.

Chapter 21
Upon hearing Winter’s name, Dominic tensed. Would she still come to save him?
After the call connected, Dominic didn’t register what Aurelia said; he was too focused on waiting for Winter’s response. But the other end remained silent.
“Winter, I’m not joking. If you don’t transfer the ransom, we’ll kill him immediately. Then you’ll never see Dominic again!”
Dominic heard a soft laugh from the other end. He held his breath, awaiting his judgment.
“He and I have nothing to do with each other anymore, Aurelia. You’ve got the wrong person. And I
remind you, what you’re doing is illegal…”
Nothing to do with each other anymore…
Dominic only heard that one phrase. He finally deeply realized this fact: he had lost Winter.
The call devolved from threats to one–sided insults until Winter simply hung up.
The pair realized Dominic was awake.
Chase approached him with scissors. “Since you’re awake, let’s settle our score. Starting with my
eye…”
After hanging up, Winter thought carefully.
Though she didn’t want any more involvement with Dominic, she couldn’t stand by and let him die.
Moreover, since they had called her, she might be implicated if the police investigated.
After much consideration, she called Dominic’s father.
