If there was anything to complain about, it was that he’d had an intimate relationship with a low–ranking Omega during his amnesia and insisted on keeping her around.
But Luna Anya had assured her that she would make that Omega, Sera, disappear. Plus, when she was with Eric, his attitude towards her was much better than towards that Omega, so she’d never really cared much about it.
Until yesterday, when he suddenly changed, blocking her mind–link, not answering her calls, not even seeing her.
She had to ask around to find out it was because that Omega had left on her own.
Gianna had thought he wouldn’t care about something like that. After all, from everything she’d seen of their interactions, he didn’t seem to have any real emotional attachment to that Omega.
But now, because of her, he’d locked himself in his room and even dropped all pretense of civility, treating her with extreme coldness. It was utterly ridiculous!
Eric merely glanced up at her, then lay back down, lifeless. Like a lone wolf that had lost its will to hunt.
“She’s just an insignificant, low–ranking Omega! Eric, do you even remember that I’m your future mate?” Gianna was infuriated by his attitude. Her pride couldn’t stand being ignored. She strode forward and grabbed his arm, trying to pull him up.
The moment her cold fingers touched his skin, a strong wave of repulsion washed over Eric.
Almost instinctively, he violently shook her hand off!
“Ah!”
Not expecting Eric to suddenly lash out, Gianna, caught off guard, stumbled and fell heavily to the ground, her wrist aching sharply.
Pain shot through her nerves, and in an instant, her eyes filled with disbelieving tears.

“Eric, you pushed me?” Her voice trembled, her eyes wide with shock and hurt. Her tear–filled, red–rimmed eyes did look pitiful.
He froze for a moment, seeming to realize he’d gone too far. He wanted to explain but didn’t know where to start, finally just moving to the
side in silence.
Eric didn’t know what was wrong with him.
He wasn’t new to the idea of bonding with Gianna; in fact, he’d initially agreed to it.
He was the sole heir of the Dark Moon pack, the strongest and most promising Alpha among the werewolves. Since he was young, he’d been the object of other cubs‘ envy. Everywhere he went, he drew admiring gazes.
Pack members envied his bloodline, his strength, his talent.
He was showered with affection. How could his future mate be an orphaned Omega with a lowly bloodline, unable to even protect herself?
Even if he wasn’t as instinctively drawn to Betas, a rational marriage alliance made Gianna the most suitable choice.
Eric had told himself countless times that Sera wasn’t good enough for him. The bit of pity he felt for her was perhaps just an Alpha’s instinct to protect the weak, or a way to repay her for taking care of him.
But he had never thought Sera would leave.
He had assumed that even if he eventually bonded with Gianna, he would arrange things properly for Sera, provide her with enough to live on, at least so she wouldn’t have to go back to that hand–to–mouth existence.
But she just left, so quietly, so decisively, without even giving him a chance to stop her.
It was only then he realized, with a shock, that Sera, in those three years they’d depended on each other, had become an indispensable part of his life. She was like a gentle breeze under the moonlight, already deep in his bones, part of his very soul.
Looking at Gianna, still sitting on the floor, Eric finally admitted a fact to himself–he regretted it. He wanted to find Sera, no matter the cost.
