Chapter 6
Theo mechanically returned home, and the moment he pushed open the door, he caught a familiar aroma of
cooking.
The sweet fragrance of Lobster Bisque–Marina’s specialty.
His heart hammered against his chest, wild joy flashing in his eyes.
“Marina? You’re back?”
He practically stumbled into the kitchen, his face lit up with hope and anticipation, only to freeze completely when he saw who was actually there. The smile slowly died on his lips.
It wasn’t her.
Astrid stood there in a white silk nightgown, leisurely stirring the soup in the pot.
When she saw him, she immediately flashed that sweet smile.
“Theo, you’re home!”
All his hope vanished in an instant.
Theo’s expression turned ice–cold.
“Didn’t you already go back to Canada?”
He clearly remembered personally escorting Astrid to her flight.
“I came back again.”
Astrid set down the ladle and stepped closer, her delicate fingers trailing across his chest.
“Theo, dear,I couldn’t bear to leave you… I want to be with you.”
“This time, I’m not going anywhere.”
She tilted her head up, her eyes gleaming with determination.
“Let’s get married.”
Theo looked at her like she’d just told the world’s biggest joke, shoving her away roughly.
“Married?”
“Astrid, who the hell do you think you are?”
Astrid’s face went rigid.

Chapter 6
“What do you mean?”
“I mean-”
Theo’s voice was cold as ice“The person I’m remarrying is Marina, not you.”
“That’s impossible!”
Astrid shrieked, “Theo Camden, you dumped Marina for me so many times–what’s with this act now?”
A flash of discomfort crossed Theo’s eyes, quickly replaced by even deeper coldness.
“I divorced her to protect your reputation, not because I loved you.”
“If you hadn’t kept coming back to mess with us all these years, Marina wouldn’t have left!”
Astrid’s face went deathly pale, then flushed bright red.
“You’re lying! If that’s all it was, why did you always remarry her right on schedule?”
“Because-”
Theo suddenly stopped, confusion flickering in his eyes.
“Because I promised her…”
He finally realized who he truly cared about–Marina, who used to wait for him to come home with such hope in her
eyes.
Astrid suddenly laughed, the sound sharp and grating.
“Theo Camden, are you done with this fucking charade?”
She stepped closer, backing him against the wall.
“Who was kissing me in your office? Who couldn’t wait to find me every time you got divorced?”
“You think you can lie to yourself? You’re in love with me!”
Theo grabbed her wrist violently, his grip so tight it could have crushed bone.
“Shut the fuck up!”
“Hit a nerve, didn’t I?”
Astrid endured the pain, her eyes venomous.
“Now that Marina’s had enough of your bullshit and left, suddenly you want to play the devoted husband?”
“You deserve this!”

Chapter 6
She screamed hysterically“You deserve to never find her again!”
Theo’s eyes turned blood red as he backhanded her across the face.
The sharp crack echoed through the empty mansion.
Astrid staggered back, clutching her cheek in disbelief.
“You hit me?”
“I told you.”
Theo’s voice was terrifyingly cold, “If you hadn’t kept provoking Marina, she wouldn’t have left.”
“Now get out of America. Immediately.”
He pulled out his phone and called his security team.
“Get over here now. ‘Escort‘ Miss Bellamy back where she belongs.”
Astrid completely panicked.
“You can’t do this to me, Theo! I love you so much—”
Her answer was the cold sound of the front door opening.
Two bodyguards in black suits grabbed her arms and dragged her out, her screams fading into the night.
Theo stood there alone, staring at the overturned soup bowl on the floor, slowly sinking to his knees.
The aroma of Lobster Bisque filled the air…
Just like the person who would never come back again.
