Chapter 9
On the pink sand beaches of the Bahamas, three hundred crystal chandeliers illuminated the entire private beach
like daylight.
I wore the latest designed wedding gown, looking at myself in the mirror–more composed than I’d been three years
ago.
“Miss Sinclair,” the stylist whispered, “there’s a gentleman outside…”
Camilla cut her off directly“Tell him the bride isn’t seeing anyone.”
My fingers adjusting the veil paused. “Theo’s still out there?”
“He’s been kneeling at the beach entrance since last night.”
Camilla rolled her eyes. “Claims he won’t get up until he sees you. Security’s tried to remove him three times–no
luck.”
Through the floor–to–ceiling windows, I could see the man soaked to the bone in the storm.
His expensive suit pants were torn by the rough coral sand, blood seeping through at the knees.
He’d pushed away the black umbrella the bodyguards held out, as if he wanted this storm to wash away something.
Declan suddenly pushed through the door, tablet in hand.
The screen displayed real–time data of Camden Industries‘ stock collapse–just half an hour ago, Wolfe Industries had completed the acquisition of Camden’s final 7% stake.
“Want him to watch the wedding livestream?” Declan rested his chin on my shoulder, the screen switching to 4K footage of the chapel interior.
His tone was as gentle as if discussing today’s champagne tower. “I specifically chose the church where you two got
married.”
I laughed and swatted away his wandering hand. “Childish.”
“Marina!” A heart–wrenching cry suddenly pierced through the storm. “Come out and see me!”
Theo had somehow broken through the first security perimeter.
In the pouring rain, he held up a velvet box rotted by seawater, containing a ring with an eerie green tint–the cheap couple’s rings he’d randomly bought from a street vendor for our first wedding.
“I found out I have terminal stomach cancer… the doctors say three months at most…”
His voice was shattered like crushed glass.

Chapter 9
“Just… take pity on me…”
Declan suddenly gripped my hand tighter.
This Wall Street wolf’s eyes were reddening, and he was actually trembling slightly.
I knew he was afraid I might still feel sorry for Theo Camden.
But how could I?
I squeezed his palm and shook my head at the butler. “It’s time for the ceremony.”
The moment the organ began to play, there was a heavy thud from the beach–something falling hard.
Through the stained glass, I saw Theo collapse into the tide like a piece of driftwood, while the velvet box with the ring was carried away by the waves, gradually drifting toward the deep blue.
