ELEVEN YEARS 8

Chapter 8

I picked up, but Daxon didn’t say anything.

“Wrong number?” Just as I was about to hang up, he finally spoke.

“You actually answered. Guess you’re not mad anymore.”

“Alright, hurry up and delete that post before everyone thinks it’s real.”

I seriously couldn’t understand how Daxon’s brain worked.

“We’re being totally open about it. Why would I delete it?”

“You guys aren’t seriously gonna be together, are you?”

“Yep.”

He was quiet for a long time before squeezing out, “Skylar, you don’t want me anymore?”

“We broke up over a month ago. It’s normal for me to have a new boyfriend, right?”

Daxon hung up.

A few nights later, right after I said goodnight to Kieran, Aria sent me a video.

The video showed Daxon and his friends completely wasted in a club room.

His friends were all trying to stop him. “Daxon, quit drinking. You’re gonna hurt yourself.”

Seriously, is Skylar worth all this?”

‘Fuck off!” Daxon smashed a beer bottle, glass shards flying everywhere.

‘If you really can’t let her go, just go win her back. You’ve known each other eleven years-she can’t let you go either.”

I… I can’t bring myself to do it.” Daxon let out a long sigh.

‘Eleven years, man. How many eleven-year chunks do you get in life? How could she be so heartless?”

As Daxon said that, he collapsed to the floor, and his arm got cut up by the glass shards.

Everyone around him started screaming.

I didn’t get why Aria sent me this video.

But she texted back:

Did you see that? Doesn’t your conscience hurt? Daxon’s such a good guy, and now look what he’s become because of you. It breaks my heart!]

Just leave him alone. If you really care about him, disappear from his life. I’ll heal all the damage you caused him, bit by bit.]

Reading Aria’s words, I felt like I was suffocating.

Just because I didn’t cry, didn’t make scenes, didn’t get drunk-suddenly I was the one who wasn’t hurt in this relationship.

[Aria, you and Daxon are the ones who hurt me. Don’t play victim and try to flip this on me. I’m blocking both of you, and please don’t disgust me with your presence ever again.]

After that, I deleted both Aria and Daxon. I didn’t want any connection to either of them.

One Saturday afternoon, my dad got a call at home.

He hesitated and said he’d think about it, then hung up.

“Dazon got hurt. His mom hopes you can go see him.”

Chapter 8

My dad frowned slightly. “If you don’t want to go, don’t. I don’t want my daughter getting guilt-tripped by anyone. Whatever happe responsibility.”

I was grateful for my dad’s protective stance, but Daxon’s mom had taken care of me when I was little. Since she was asking, I coul

“It’s fine. I’ll go this once. Better to clear things up face to face.”

So, my dad came home with me.

But I didn’t expect to see Daxon looking like this when we met again.
