Seeing Alice get hit, James grabbed my injured arm and yanked with such force it felt like he wanted to lift my entire body. “The woman I’ve protected my whole life you dare hit her?!”
Then James turned to the group of bodyguards: “Break her hand!”
Alice came to her senses, covering her face and crying: “You think James really wants to marry you! You actually dared to hit me!”
My wound immediately reopened. I screamed in pain: “Let go!”
In the struggle, my badge fell to the ground, and Alice immediately stepped on it.
She trampled it while giving me a mocking look: “What is this cheap little thing? God, you’re so tacky.”
My heart sank suddenly.
That was an official badge representing the National Research Institute! How dare she!
forcefully shook off James, then lunged at Alice, snatching the badge from under her foot.

My superior’s voice was anxious: “Charlotte, what’s wrong?”

“What?!” My superior’s voice immediately shot up: “Your hand is crucial to the entire project! You’re our top expert – we can’t afford any risks! Which hospital?
We’re coming right away!”
Hearing this, James couldn’t help but burst into laughter: “Top expert?! Hahahaha!”
“Who do you think you are!”
Then James pressed down harder on me.
He snatched my phone and roared: “You’re her boss? Fine! Come to Brightview Medical in Manhattan. I’ll be waiting.”
“When you get here, I’ll make sure you crawl out.”
Without waiting for a response, he threw my phone to the ground and smashed it.
“Since you love performing so much, I’m not leaving tonight!”
“I want to see who in New York dares oppose the Hawke family!”
Alice clapped and cheered nearby: “Excellent! James, let’s see how long she can hold out now.”
1 suddenly felt dizzy and realized blood was flowing more and more from my arm.
I struggled to lift my head and looked at the nurses not far away: “Please… can you help me stop the bleeding first?”
