Chapter 50
She used to think, “Those things will come in handy sooner or later.”
And now, she doesn’t even dare to click on the one that collects her.
Brayan never thought that his casual remark would make Jennifer silent for so long.
He thought his phone was broken for a long time.
Before he could speak again, there was already a busy tone on the other end of the line.
Jennifer hung up the phone unilaterally.
Brayan also put down his phone.
Jamie noticed that Brayan’s expression on his face was even scarier than before.
Two days later, Donna was discharged from the hospital. Davon used this as an excuse to throw a party at the LeBlanc’s manor, inviting big shots and celebrities from all walks of life, hoping to make up for the recent business losses of the LeBlanc Group.
Brayan naturally attended, and his date was Catalina.
When Brayan was socializing, Donna took Catalina’s hand and whispered to her, “If it weren’t for Sir LeBlanc stopping me, I would have told Brayan to divorce Jennifer a long time ago. Brayan should have married you in the first place.”
Catalina smiled shyly and looked at Brayan affectionately.
Brayan happened to turn his head and gave her a slight smile.
“You’ve never seen my son smile like that with Jennifer before.”
Donna’s words made Catalina even more certain of Brayan’s love for
her.
At the party, glasses clinked and people chatted and laughed.
When Jennifer arrived at the manor by taxi, she saw a crowd of people outside the old house, and it was so noisy that she momentarily thought she had come to the wrong place.
It wasn’t until I got closer to her that I realized these people were all dressed to the nines.
It should have been a party.
Some guests at the party noticed Jennifer because she was the only one wearing a cheap t–shirt and jeans.
“Oh my god Jennifer, what are you wearing?”
Catalina’s eyes widened when she saw Jennifer, she immediately exclaimed, walking quickly in high heels to stand face to face with Jennifer.
She wore the latest haute couture from Elie Saab today, a nude pink silk slip dress adorned with Swarovski crystals, both delicate and elegant.
Compared to Jennifer in jeans, it’s like night and day.
“Sis, why are you bothering with her?”
Ronan came up to Catalina and checked out Jennifer from head to toe.
“Did you dress like this on purpose to embarrass Brayan at such an important party today?”
“Ronan, stop saying that, Jennifer is not that kind of person!”
Catalina explained to Jennifer in a soft voice.
“It’s not easy for her to make a living on her own now, cutting off the economic source from the LeBlanc family. How can she afford a dress?”
Catalina had a Barbie doll makeup on her face, showing a “sincere” concern. She even wanted to hold Jennifer’s hand, but Jennifer avoided her.
“Jennifer, if you ever need help, just let me know. It’s just a dress, Brayan has given me plenty, you can pick any one you like.”
Catalina was being all fake nice to Jennifer, which made her sick. She wanted to leave, but Ronan stopped her.
“Sister–in–law is so nice to you, you didn’t even say thank you, no wonder Brayan always thinks your family education is not good.”
Among the guests, Peter and Jasper were also there.
Peter represented VelvetRose, while Jasper was invited as the new CEO of Manning Media.
Neither of them expected to see Jennifer here.
If Catalina was the only one blocking Jennifer’s way, it would have been fine, but now there’s this big guy Ronan too. Peter and Jasper both instinctively wanted to go help Jennifer out.
Ronan was showing off in front of Jennifer, then someone grabbed him by the back of his collar.
“Brayan?”
When Catalina saw that it was Brayan, she immediately hooked her arm with his.
Brayan looked at Jennifer, “checking her out” just like Ronan, but his gaze was much sharper than Ronan’s.
“Weren’t you going to divorce me? Why are you suddenly acting like the hostess here?”
Brayan’s voice was as usual, with a sarcastic tone that was as usual grating.
“Just her? And the hostess?” Ronan snorted, “I think she’s more like a
maid than a sister–in–law.”
Jennifer couldn’t be bothered with Ronan. Her outfit now was really plain, not as stylish as Catalina’s.
She glanced at Donna by accident.
Donna happened to be looking in my direction, and when our eyes met, she quickly looked away, feeling guilty.
Today Jennifer came to the old house because Donna asked her to
come.
Grandpa wasn’t feeling well and we ran out of medicine at home, so he asked her to go buy some.
