Natalie sneered in disdain.
Seeing her unshaken expression, Benjamin relaxed slightly. “After Jason woke up a few days ago, he took a liking to the nurse who was caring for him. But what I don’t get is why the woman is acting so arrogant when Jason is on the verge of going bankrupt now.”
Natalie took a sip of her coffee elegantly, savoring the fragrance of the beverage before saying, “He may be almost bankrupt, but to an ordinary person like her, he still has more money than she could ever earn in her life.”
Having been married to Jason, Natalie knew a little about his true dealings. While his company was crumbling, it was his other ventures, the ones hidden from the public eye, that truly made up his wealth.
Three years ago, Jason and Sienna had colluded to hurt her. Now that her vision had been restored and she had both fame and power, it was time to settle the score.
First of all, Natalie needed to find the ledger Jason had once mentioned. Once she gathered enough evidence of his illegal dealings and what he had done to her three years ago, she would make sure he spent the rest of his life rotting in prison, repenting for his crimes.
Benjamin scoffed coldly. “One man’s trash is another’s treasure, I guess. Then again, what kind of treasure would you find in a trashcan?”
Natalie gave a mocking smile. “Waste recycling is all the rage now, isn’t it? She’s probably just doing her duty. Oh, by the way, send me the contact information for Sienna’s ghost artist. I’ll pay her a visit tomorrow.”
“She’ll be a tough nut to crack–she’s stubborn as hell. Good luck with that.”
Outside, Jane, frustrated by Tom’s refusal to cooperate, decided to teach him a lesson. Without warning, she pushed open the door to one of the private rooms–the very one where Natalie and Benjamin were.
Benjamin was stunned. He stared at their uninvited guest for a moment before frowning. “What’s the meaning of this?”
Tom was caught off guard as well. He had assumed that Jane was just making empty threats and hadn’t expected her to actually go through with it. Flustered, he apologized hurriedly, “Sir, madam, I’m truly sorry for the disturbance. Your meal will be discounted as compensation.”
Hearing this, Natalie slowly turned around. When she saw Jane’s face, she froze.
Jane resembled her a lot.
Benjamin leaned in and whispered with quiet amusement, “Well, now we know why he went after her. How pathetic of Jason— he didn’t appreciate the real thing when she was in front of him, and when she’s gone, he found a stand–in to play the devoted lover. Ugh, gross!”
Natalie didn’t know what to say to that.
Jason must have lost his mind. Was this some kind of twisted attempt to disgust her?
Her three years of love were wasted on him.
Jane, who had only intended to pressure Tom into revealing Jason’s whereabouts, was also shocked when she saw Natalie. She froze, momentarily forgetting her tantrum.
“What’s your name?” she demanded.
Natalie smiled, giving her a dismissive look without answering her question.
To her, Jane was no more than a sorry joke. She could only give her silent pity.
Natalie turned to Tom and said, “We were done eating anyway. You can clear the table.”

Relieved that she hadn’t made a scene, Tom shot her a grateful look. “Thank you for your understanding.”
Natalie nodded.
Just then, Benjamin’s phone buzzed. After reading the text, his expression tightened with anxiety. “Natalie, my client is in trouble. I have to go— I can’t drive you to your hotel.”
“It’s fine,” Natalie said. “Go ahead. I’ll get a cab.”
Benjamin dashed off after that brief explanation, clearly in a hurry
Natalie prepared to leave as well, but jane blocked her path. “Who are you?” she demanded again harshly.
