Grandfather
Omar lived in a villa area near the city center, not far from where Delilah had arranged to
meet.
He was unlike most elderly people, who preferred solitude; Omar loved a lively atmosphere
and had no interest in secluding himself in the suburbs.
When they arrived at Omar’s house, he was working out in the yard, surrounded by various fitness equipment.
It should have been a peaceful, fragrant place, but instead, it had been turned into a gym.
“Uncle Omar, your villa is quite interesting. You’ve put all your fitness equipment outside.”
“Exercise should be down-to-earth. Breathing in the fresh air outside is much better than staying cooped up inside all the time.”
Omar wiped the sweat from his face and walked up to Hazel.
“Why did you come over today? Did you bring the hard drive?”
Hazel took out a wooden box from her bag, opened it, and inside was the hard drive, severely damaged from the fire. Even from its appearance, it was clear how bad the damage
was.
Even a professional would likely need a lot of time and effort to repair this.
“Such severe damage? In this state, I can’t guarantee I can fix it. But I don’t understand much about it, so I’ll need to consult with the experts.”
Omar wanted to take a closer look, but worried he might further damage it. In the end, he just closed the box and put it away.
“Uncle, there’s one more thing I want to discuss with you today.”
Hazel looked at Omar, her gaze softening. She had been considering this for a long time and

had finally decided to bring it up herself. Waiting for Omar to initiate it could take forever.
“I’d like to adopt you as my Grandfather, so that you’ll have someone to rely on in your later years. That
That way, you won’t be alone during the holidays. I don’t really have any proper elders, and those people with the Queen last name are no better to me than you are.”
This idea had occurred to her three years ago, when a friend of Omar had mentioned it.
Hazel still remembered the look on Omar’s face when he first heard the suggestion. He had stared blankly for a long time, then his eyes had widened with excitement as if he had discovered something new.
It was clear how much he liked the idea, but despite her waiting for years, Omar had never brought it up.
When he heard her words now, Omar’s expression mirrored the one from that first time.
Hazel reached out and patted his shoulder, “Grandpa, don’t be scared. If you don’t want to, just pretend I didn’t say anything.”
Omar immediately grew anxious. “I didn’t say I don’t want to. I’ve been dreaming of having a granddaughter like you. I’ve just been worried you wouldn’t want to. That’s why I didn’t bring it up all these years.”
years, and
As he spoke, Omar’s eyes started to well up. He had been living alone all these years, how he longed for a son or daughter.
But his heart had no room for another woman, so he had let it go.
Now, out of the blue, a granddaughter appeared, and she was the young woman he admired the most. How could he not want this?
“Since you’ve said it, there’s no going back. I’m going to arrange the recognition banquet right now. You’re not leaving today.”
Omar rushed off to make arrangements, and Hazel couldn’t stop him.

In the end, it was the housekeeper, Mr. Benson, who stopped the phone call, smiling as he watched Omar frantically make plans.
“Mr. Omar, the recognition banquet is a big deal. Since you’re taking it so seriously, you can’t rush it. We need to pick an auspicious date and think things over.”
Hearing this, Omar calmed down. Soon after, he made another call to select the date.
Once the date was set, he felt at ease.
“Hazel, I’ve already booked the banquet and settled on the date. You can’t back out now!”
“Being your granddaughter is my blessing. I’m eager to do this, how could I regret it?”
After finalizing the details of the recognition banquet, including the guest list, Hazel stayed for dinner at Omar’s house before leaving.
When she stepped out, the sky was already pitch black.
“Boss, I just went to that restaurant and had a look. Delilah is still sitting there, really ridiculous. The waiters were gossiping about her.”
As soon as she got in the car, Eddie excitedly shared this funny incident with Hazel.
Hazel glanced at the time; it was already past nine in the evening. After waiting since afternoon, Delilah truly had patience.
This made Hazel even more curious-what could be so important to Delilah that she would wait for so long? Was it just to show off?
“Take me there, I’ll meet her.”
“Boss? Didn’t you say you weren’t going?”
“She’s waited this long. It doesn’t matter whether I go or not. I’ll go see what kind of act she’s putting on. At least it’ll be something to pass the time.”
Eddie smirked, “That’s true. Looking at her, even if she doesn’t see you today, she’ll

probably be back tomorrow to block you. Might as well see her now.”

At the western restaurant in the city center, before Hazel even entered, she noticed several waiters gathered together, occasionally glancing in Delilah’s direction.
It was a little cold today, and by this time, the restaurant was almost empty. Only Delilah remained, sitting at a window seat, her back appearing quite stubborn.
“Alright, tell me. What could be so important that you’d wait this long?”
