As Boring As Ever
The young girl trembled, about to explain, but Delilah interrupted her.
“Don’t be nervous, it’s just some work–related matters I need to discuss with you. Come with me, I’ll explain in detail.”
With that, she turned and walked toward a more secluded corridor and the girl had no choice but to follow.
When they reached a stairwell, their voices echoed in the empty space, so Delilah lowered her tone.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t hear anything you said earlier. But you need to do something for me.”
“What is it?”
“Keep an eye on Damon Price. You need to report to me immediately on anything that happens, especially anything related to Hazel. If you know anything, tell me right away.”
The girl was frozen for a long moment, unable to speak. Asking her to keep an eye on the CEO was almost like signing her own death warrant. Now, she had two choices: offend the CEO’s wife or offend the CEO. Both options seemed equally dangerous.
“Think carefully. I promise no one will know about the task I’m giving you. Just keep it discreet, and I guarantee you’ll be promoted faster than you expect.”
After saying this, Delilah shifted her tone. “But if you refuse, I promise you won’t last a day at here.”
Delilah crossed her arms, standing in front of the girl with an air of superiority.
Feeling that she had delivered the ultimatum, she softened her tone a bit. “Don’t worry, I’m not asking you to do anything immoral. As Damon’s current wife, I just want him to keep his distance from his ex–wife. Is that so wrong?”
Though it wasn’t necessarily wrong, the girl wished she hadn’t gotten involved. She cursed herself for speaking out earlier and being overheard by the CEO’s wife. This situation was spiraling out of control.
“You don’t agree?” Delilah’s voice was sharp.
“No, I mean, I’ll definitely keep an eye on the relationship between the CEO and his ex–wife, Miss Hasani. I’ll do it.”
“Good. Don’t worry, I won’t treat you unfairly.” Delilah patted the girl on the shoulder. “What’s your name?”
“Tonya Lane.”
“Alright, I’m leaving this to you. Let’s exchange contact information…”
Meanwhile, Damon and Hazel left the company and went straight to a high–end restaurant, a private room that Hazel had reserved in advance.
This restaurant had a high rating in Vernon, and without a reservation, there would be no available tables. But since Hazel had booked the private room early, they were able to dine without any issues.
“It seems like you’re really set on treating me today. You even reserved the private room in advance.”
Inside the small room, they sat across from each other. The waiter placed two glasses of water in front of them and presented
the menu.
“Our restaurant’s private rooms are quite hard to book. This lady made the reservation yesterday and sincerely invited this gentleman to dinner,” the waiter explained.
The restaurant wasn’t very busy, and each private room had its own dedicated server who handled everything from the reservation to customer service.
Damon felt a surge of happiness, but then Hazel’s next words doused his excitement.
“I always do things thoroughly. I reserved the room in advance. If you hadn’t come, I could have brought someone else.”

Hazel said this nonchalantly while flipping through the menu.
“Just bring me this and this. I’ll just have plain water to drink, as for the rest, it’s up to this gentleman to decide.”
The waiter awkwardly smiled, collected Hazel’s menu, and turned to look at Damon.

Damon casually ordered a steak and soup, handing the menu back to the waiter. The private room was now just for the two of them.
“You’re still as boring as ever. I’ve given you, such a big project, and you can’t even say something to make me happy?”
“Mr. Price, I think we’re just business partners. If you want flattering words, your wife should be better at saying them to you.”
When the word ‘wife‘ left Hazel’s lips, Damon immediately felt an uncomfortable sensation in his chest.
Delilah didn’t really deserve that title. If it weren’t for Demian’s dying request, he wouldn’t have gone this far.
But he had promised Demian not to tell anyone, and he had already broken that promise by telling his grandfather. He thought Demian, who cared deeply for his grandfather, wouldn’t mind.
However, for Hazel, Demian was nothing more than an outsider. He certainly didn’t want such private matters to be known by
her.
The deceased deserved respect, so Damon couldn’t think of another solution at the moment.
But if Demian’s death was related to Delilah, he wouldn’t care about these things anymore.
“Alright, enough about that. Let me tell you about the contract.”
The meal lasted for an hour, and during that time, they mostly talked about work. However, the media that caught sight of them wouldn’t report it that way.
After the recognition banquet, when Hazel returned to Queen Corp her employees and shareholders greeted her with an entirely different attitude.
As Omar’s only goddaughter, even if she didn’t have the ability to run the company, Queen Corp would never go bankrupt.
It was widely known how much Omar cared for her. If anything truly went wrong with the company, no one believed Omar would just sit idly by.
“Hazel, why didn’t you tell Uncle about accepting Omar as your god–grandfather? We only found out online later, and by the time we wanted to send you a gift, we missed the chance.”
Jonah genuinely hadn’t known. He only knew that Omar wanted to adopt a good granddaughter, but he never imagined such a great opportunity would fall to Hazel.
It wasn’t until last night when he saw the news online that he found out Omar’s god–granddaughter was Damon’s ex–wife-
and that it was Hazel.
Sully leaned back in her office chair, reading through some documents without looking up.
“It’s never too late to send a gift now, Mr. Queen. Are you just talking for the sake of it? At the recognition banquet, every guest gave Hazel a big gift. As her uncle, you can’t just talk and not send anything, can you?”
Ever since Sully moved into Hazel’s office, her daily banter with Jonah had become routine.
Bailey sometimes sat outside Hazel’s office and occasionally chimed in. She seemed to have changed quite a bit, no longer the same person who used to argue loudly all the time.
Sometimes, when she felt her temper flaring, she would actively step out of the office, only to come back later and apologize. It likely happened only once, though, probably after being persuaded by Jonah.
“Hazel didn’t even invite my dad. She didn’t treat my dad as family first, so it’s okay if my dad didn’t prepare a gift, right?”

“However, Hazel, accepting Grandpa Omar as your god–grandfather is a good thing, but the way it’s being reported online doesn’t match what really happened. Aren’t you going to manage that?”
Bailey now spoke with a calm tone, completely different from the hot–tempered person she once was.
